"Surging forces is a strategy that you have already tried and that has already failed."Like many, but not all, nor a majority of current or former military leaders. Like *ssholes, everyone has an opinion. The leaders speak the truth (very rare), when they say, "they like us, believe there is no purely military solution in Iraq." I have never heard that only a "military solution" is what is in the works, have you? Although they don't have to lie in making this statement, they do reveal a vast ignorance in the basics........military action often is a part of political solutions. To think of the two as wholly separate animals is just wrong!
"Like many current and former military leaders, we believe that trying again would be a serious mistake. They, like us, believe there is no purely military solution in Iraq. There is only a political solution."
"The letter also urged Bush to begin withdrawing U.S. troops within six months and shift the mission of the remaining force toward training and supporting Iraqi troops and battling terrorism."
Great job in November.....Oxymoron: Democratic Leadership.
What do you think we should do about the current situation in Iraq? Do you think we need a new stategy?
ReplyDeleteHell yes!!! We should always be adjusting, while being willing to actually have realistic rules of engagement. Door to door in many neighborhoods and keep the area clear after that. All easier said than done, but....I don't like the idea of the military having to fight with one hand tied behind its back, while inserting the thumb from the free hand up you know where.
ReplyDeleteIt would be asinine to just bump up the numbers as though that were enough. History has it's share of increasing numbers of troops with renewing tactics to meet the challenges head-on aggressively. Unfortunately it also has it's share of just bumping up numbers....there is never just one outcome
Okay, let me get this right, abandon the Middle East, raise taxes, limit our local oil and tax it as our sworn enemies search for oil in international waters just outside our zone, raise the cost of producing goods by raising the minimum wage, and make the military more politically correct. Oh, is that all you want, Nancy? Ooops, almost forgot, adopt Koran as biblical text and Marxism as the official party. Okay, got it.
ReplyDeleteOh, boy... We're really going to be in for an @$$-pounding by the Dems for the forseeable future.
