One of the problems with the "Anti-Stem Cell Research" folks is the misunderstanding that ALL stem cells come from aborted fetuses... they don't. Every adult has stem cells and the "richest" harvest of them is (usually discarded) umbilical cords from healthy births.
...but thanks to the same people that don't bother to find out the difference between plutonium and uranium and therefore see all nuclear power in the same light as an atomic bomb, the people doing "baby-safe" work on stem-cell research who might cure untold thousands of ailments are being thwarted by those with no minds, no brains, who cannot read, but still vote.
Why is it common sense and pratical science are always condemned by those who refuse to look into things objectively and prefer to stay ignorant within a "faith"?
...and the above comment coming from someone once called a "moon-bat" by the same people that assume "Stem-Cells = Abortion"!
Would be nice if debates could be based more on the facts, which is one of the things that always tweaks me about the media. They have the power to keep it honest, yet go for the dishonest.
I didn't realize stem cells could be derived from uranium/plutonium....intriguing....
I like your use of "faith."
Everyone assumes, why do you think we are all *sses?
I didn't say my argument was with you... unless you're against "stem cell research" and are another person not clued in to the several ways it can be conducted and therefore tossed a coverall towell on a rather important bit of scientific work because ONE way it's done is questionable... and therefore are willing to foresake all of it based on this.
I agree that ALL media neglect to speak to ACTUAL SCIENTISTS... and instead go to spokespeople and extremists... but hey, what's the saying... if it bleeds, it leads... and who wants inconvenient facts when you can whip up a furror with speculation, philosophy, and hearsay!
After all, there are no shades of grey, right? Only black or white...
BLECH!!!!
Y'know, I am an anti-conspiracy theorist on many things... but the "dumbing down of the nation" more and more seems probable... and THAT DOES cross party lines.
Oh, and no, you can't get stem cells from uranium and plutonium... and I highly recommend not trying to get a fusion reaction from discarded ubillical cords.
Geez, now that I've typed that, we'll have protestors at hospitals saying "NO NUKES!" at the delivery rooms and people are going to be concerned that Nuclear Generating stations are using fetuses in their cores!
Am I wrong to be mad about the dumb, dumb, dumb sheeple that allow the media and their political/social circle dictate the truth? Last I saw, the truth was supposed to be self evident... perhaps I'm mistaken.
Before I forget I'm offended...CLAN? What are you saying now?!?! I'm a member of the CLAN?????
oh...sorry, my bad....Robertson and Buchanan on me Da's side.
No, I didn't think you gave me any lip, but you said Moon-bat first!
Thank you for setting me straight on the nukes from umbilical cords....I feel pretty stupid now; but hey, I've never read about it in the news so I figured...you know..
"I highly recommend not trying to get a fusion reaction from discarded ubillical cords."
Bad things happen, eh? Glad you went there first.
Not sure why you though I might think you were arguing (especially since I tend to ignore that, especially from a person from Canadia). If it had to do with my mentioning "faith" it was likely my misunderstanding. I tend to put quotes around quotes and as a means of indicating the questinabobility of a choice of words? Like if I think a story is BS I might type "facts"....I don't know that I made any sense with that, but it is the 13th.
Dumbing down? What do you mean? NO, you are not wrong for being even OVERLY annoyed or bothered by that. "Truth, self evident..? Uh-oh, what did I mean by those quotes (I guess it is confusing). I'm thinking it is because it is self-evident that so many try to blur it.
Strange that people think we can fix things this way.

Just making sure... too many friends who are doin' the good work in labs... and a "person from Canadia"??? I prefer The Soviet Republic of Canucklestan, please!
The "quotes" are shields... er, I mean, like you, to denote that I'm meaning this in a broader reference than may be presumed.
In my humble opinion, anything someone believes without evidence, but based on what one person or group says and held together only with said person's blind willingness to not question things, that's a "faith"...
This isn't a knock on religious dogmas and whatnot... just sayin' that I am the type of person that needs to touch paint to determine if it is indeed wet.
As for the dumbing down bit... I'm doing my darndest best to ensure that my kids know who discovered Penicillin was (officially) ahead of the name of Ross' monkey on "Friends".
Oh, Sir Alexander Fleming and Marcel respectively... just in case...
