"How did it come to pass that an opposition's measure of a president's foreign policy was all or nothing, success or "failure"? The answer is that the political absolutism now normal in Washington arrived at the moment--Nov. 7, 2000--that our politics subordinated even a war against terror to seizing the office of the presidency." - Daniel Henninger - WSJ 11/18/05

Alito Thwarts Conservatives? - Bench Memos on National Review Online

Bench Memos on National Review Online

Some good info in Bench memos regarding Alito's first vote. This had nothing to do with being for or against the death penalty.

As much as the MSM may want it to appear as if "'Alito broke ranks Wednesday night with the Supreme Court's conservatives by refusing to allow Missouri to execute death-row inmate,"' it is just not the case.
