"How did it come to pass that an opposition's measure of a president's foreign policy was all or nothing, success or "failure"? The answer is that the political absolutism now normal in Washington arrived at the moment--Nov. 7, 2000--that our politics subordinated even a war against terror to seizing the office of the presidency." - Daniel Henninger - WSJ 11/18/05

CNN.com - She's the homecoming king - Mar 7, 2006

"Santo Provenzano, 21, who competed for king, said Jones' selection made the event seem like a joke. "It discourages guys from wanting to take part in the future," he said."

Personally I don't care, but personally it is ridiculous.

As far as I'm concerned if the students want to go this way, go ahead, but it kind of defeats the purpose of homecoming King/Queen; except of course for the political statement of it, which is likely all it was.

I wonder how much an "education" costs there?
