"How did it come to pass that an opposition's measure of a president's foreign policy was all or nothing, success or "failure"? The answer is that the political absolutism now normal in Washington arrived at the moment--Nov. 7, 2000--that our politics subordinated even a war against terror to seizing the office of the presidency." - Daniel Henninger - WSJ 11/18/05

Mixed Section of Iraqis Sees Hope Dashed - New York Times

Mixed Section of Iraqis Sees Hope Dashed - New York Times

Only two quotes from this one struck me this morning.

"Iraqi society is a society of rumors. If a rumor comes, reality disappears inside it." This sounds similar to the reality of the 24 hour news cycle here in the U.S. from the msm. Hasn't most reporting, especially regarding Iraq, Bush etc., been unfounded rumor?

"Iraq is changing quickly, hour by hour," she said. "But what is coming after the end of Iraq? I don't know what it will be." That's part of the gamble, but it isn't going to be Hussein, nor is it going to happen over night; as it obviously hasn't yet. I hope within my lifetime, but you never know.
