"How did it come to pass that an opposition's measure of a president's foreign policy was all or nothing, success or "failure"? The answer is that the political absolutism now normal in Washington arrived at the moment--Nov. 7, 2000--that our politics subordinated even a war against terror to seizing the office of the presidency." - Daniel Henninger - WSJ 11/18/05

Iran: EU offer 'walnuts for gold'

Do you think you are dealing with a 4-year-old child to whom you can give some walnuts and chocolates and get gold from him? - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
CNN.com tells us this morning that:
Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has rejected a possible European offer for incentives, including a light-water nuclear reactor, in return for giving up uranium-enrichment program.

"Do you think you are dealing with a 4-year-old child to whom you can give some walnuts and chocolates and get gold from him?"
From IRNA comes a little tidbit of the Year of Prophet (PBUH) marks resistance, victory:
(T)he Year of Prophet (PBUH) is one of purity, humbleness, love, affection, kindness, peace and tranquility for all human beings, adding that Iran is the standard-bearer of monotheism and justice-seeking for the entire world community.
Also from the mouth of the President via IRNA:
He warned the superpowers against intervention in different countries' internal affairs, adding their performance and boldness against independent states will be registered in the history and imprinted on peoples' mind.
Unfortunately, but expected, Russia, China not backing threats against Iran: Lavrov

It's awfully reminiscent of Russia's assistance to Saddam Hussein.
