"How did it come to pass that an opposition's measure of a president's foreign policy was all or nothing, success or "failure"? The answer is that the political absolutism now normal in Washington arrived at the moment--Nov. 7, 2000--that our politics subordinated even a war against terror to seizing the office of the presidency." - Daniel Henninger - WSJ 11/18/05

Iran - No need to hold talks with US

According to IRNA:

Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Larijani said, "The Islamic Republic of Iran had not called on the US to hold talks. Rather, it was the US who repeatedly called for negotiations with Iran on developments in Iraq but these did not materialize. Iran sees no need in holding talks with the United States."

"The Islamic Republic of Iran has been conducting its peaceful nuclear activities with transparency and sees no need to hide its activities."
This especially the case with the IAEA these past few months.

IRNA Continuing:
Pointing to the atrocities committed daily by US soldiers against the Iraqi people, he pointed out instances when innocent civilians in their homes were raided by US forces and several of their members massacred.
The above is a well known fact in the mind of many, especially within Left wing blogs, the msm, the middle east and Iran in particular. These "atrocities" exclude any terrorist activities supported by Iran.

After all, the US is responsible for regional instability in the Middle East, at least as far as Kambiz Sheikh-Hassani, the Iranian Ambassador to New Zealand.
He spoke briefly of developments in the Middle East and events worldwide as well as the US' role in these events, and blamed Washington for the increasing violence and hatred in many parts of the world.
The Ambassador did see a light at the end of the tunnel, however:
"We believe that just as the Jews, Christians and Muslims were able to co-exist peacefully in the past, the fate of Palestinians can also be determined through the holding of national democratic elections with the participation of all Palestinians."
Elsewhere IRNA provides more calming news with Ali Moujani, Iran's Charge d'Affaires (that's French) to France singing a familiar refrain:
Iran had so far been conducting nuclear activities in accordance with NPT rules and regulations and will continue to do so in the future.

Moujani also rejected the possibility Iran would use oil as a weapon in response to Western states' pressure on it.
We haven't heard any threats of oil being used as a weapon, have we?

Lastly, we should all sleep soundly in our beds tonight as the Charge d'Affaires to France said Iran had no ambitions of leading the Arab world.
