I've been seeing just little bit too much of these "pieces" by Ruben Navarette of the San Diego Tribune, although this article is from the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.
I'm not going to go into it too much, but there is something extremely annoying about being told why you feel the way you do under a generalized category.
One thing I will comment or question. According to the article Navarette says that Schwarzenegger said:Californians are "making a big mistake" if they focus their anger on "Mexico or Mexicans or Latinos or whoever is coming through the South."
Which Navarette follows in the next paragraph with:That's the tendency. For the insecure and intolerant, the complaints are always about how Latino immigrants - legal or illegal - are changing the cultural landscape.
To which I might say: 'That's the tendency. Those that are pro-illegal-immigration think it's all about racism. Maybe it's because it makes their stance easier to justify, rather than on the merits of arguing in favor of something illegal.'
Now the question: If the tendency is toward "Latino immigrants," how is it that:
"Arnold knows the score. And why shouldn't he with his life experience"That's not a Latino accent I detect when he speaks, is it?
I've don't want to go into Navarette analysis, I don't want to put any further thought into "his" truth.
