"How did it come to pass that an opposition's measure of a president's foreign policy was all or nothing, success or "failure"? The answer is that the political absolutism now normal in Washington arrived at the moment--Nov. 7, 2000--that our politics subordinated even a war against terror to seizing the office of the presidency." - Daniel Henninger - WSJ 11/18/05

What is Victory?

This question has gone around quite a bit at The Victory Caucus, as well as in the media.

Hugh Hewitt this morning did not refer to “victory” at all when he said:

Today’s vote in the House will be significant only for the light it will cast on the Republicans. We know the Democrats are committed to defeat in Iraq, and Congressman Murtha is the gift of clarity that keeps giving.

Nor did N.Z, in regard to the vote today, which he referred to as:

(The) “Democrats defeatist resolution.”

Earlier in the week, N.Z. brought our attention to the planned Appropriations Committee strategy session, which was posted at MoveCongress.org as, Chairman Mao….my bad,

“Chairman Murtha will describe his strategy for not only limiting the deployment of troops to Iraq but undermining other aspects of the president’s foreign and national security policy;”
which they have since modified.

The actions and words of groups and people on this side of the war do not so much define “victory,” differently; although many arguments can be made that they do, in fact have that they have an entirely different view on what “victory,” is. “Victory,” for the Democrats is a “victory” against the wrong enemy. “Victory” is hammering away with rhetoric, regardless of damage to home and hearth for their ultimate desire; power. That is the ultimate “victory” they seek, in the only war that truly has mattered to them since Nov 7, 2000. (Although in all honesty, they did try their damnedest to avoid defeat in that one (admirable?).

As many if not all of us, at The Victory Caucus are concerned with, (N.Z), “the reality is that the Democrats control the House, and there is almost no possibility that they will lose the vote.”

Let’s allow them their Victory on this one; as we are fighting for that which is much more. In view let’s make sure that this “peace of paper,” being no more effective or realistic than Neville Chamberlain’s “peace of paper,” does not effect the greater war overall.

Patriots, they are not, regardless of how people couch it or by what they actually say; they’re thinking it. To me, one must speak the truth in argument or debate to apply for the mantle of “patriot.”

To my fellow patriots, VICTORY!!!!

    The Victory Caucus

Do You Care About Victory in Iraq? Do You Care About Victory in Iraq and the Greater War on Terror? Are you fed up with varying means of defeat? Do you take the war on terror more seriously than those that complain about it being politicized as they themselves politicize it; often to the detriment of our efforts? If so, follow the link to The Victory Caucus, sign up, get involved and make a difference.

"There is no victory at bargain basement prices." - Dwight David Eisenhower

    From The Victory Caucus:

    Our Mission

    • Deliver the perspectives and news on the war effort which the mainstream media neglects to help the American public understand the nature of our conflict and its true progress

    • Provide tools and infrastructure to help citizens who are committed to victory organize into a recognized and influential caucus

    • Identify opportunities for the caucus to act and exert influence on America’s leaders and to directly aid and support the men and women of our military

    Our Beliefs

We support victory in the war against radical Islamists. We supported the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, and we believe victory is necessary in both countries for America's self-defense.

We believe that the radical regime in Iran, while not representative of the Iranian people, is a menace and that it cannot be allowed to obtain or build nuclear weapons.

We believe that Hezbollah is a terrorist organization that has killed hundreds of Americans and which waged war against Israel in violation of every law of war this past summer, and will do so again in the future.

We believe Israel is our ally and friend and deserves the full assistance of the United States in its battle with radical Islamists. We believe that Israel has repeatedly shown its willingness to negotiate a just and lasting peace, but that its enemies do not want peace, but the destruction of Israel.

We believe that the American military is the finest in the world and indeed in history, well led and superbly trained, and populated at every level by America's best and brightest.

We support the troops, and those organizations which assist the wounded in their recoveries and support the families of those who sacrificed everything.

We support leaders who support victory.
