"How did it come to pass that an opposition's measure of a president's foreign policy was all or nothing, success or "failure"? The answer is that the political absolutism now normal in Washington arrived at the moment--Nov. 7, 2000--that our politics subordinated even a war against terror to seizing the office of the presidency." - Daniel Henninger - WSJ 11/18/05

Democratic response to SOTU-'06 - An Infomercial

First off, was it just me or did the governor and his response seem like an Infomercial?

I've flipped past the "cashflow" infomercial in the recent past and the "response" and it seem fairly similar. One often wonders how these miraculous profits happen, especially if you are not willing to pay to find out; and one often wonders what "we can do better" means when that is all that is said. Haven't the Democrats been saying "we can/we could" do better for quite some time? During the national campaign, Kerry often said, "I would have done it different." Yet that doesn't really tell you anything does it.

Sort of like those infomercials that tell you how great it can be, but don't really tell you how until you pay; or in this instance vote.

I think it is high time the Democrats stepped up to the plate and actually moved to follow through on these empty words of theirs. Stop protesting and get to work.

It would appear they can't do better.
