"How did it come to pass that an opposition's measure of a president's foreign policy was all or nothing, success or "failure"? The answer is that the political absolutism now normal in Washington arrived at the moment--Nov. 7, 2000--that our politics subordinated even a war against terror to seizing the office of the presidency." - Daniel Henninger - WSJ 11/18/05

I Am A Proud American

I heard about this on the radio last night on my way home from work. It states the obvious and in that sense is agreeable. If I have any concerns it is how this type of movement could be abused by the Loonies.

According to its "About Us" page, it seeks to show that not every Hispanic looking individual is here illegally. Uh,...I knew that. I'm not aware of anyone affiliated with CAII that feels any differently. To I Am A Proud American I will say that we get lumped together with the riff raff as well.

From I Am A Proud American:

"I Am A Proud American," seeks to peacefully break down barriers, to participate and affect our respective communities in a meaningful way. Think outside the box. We don't all speak perfect Spanish, if at all, we don't all practice the Catholic faith and you cannot always identify us based on our appearance. Dare to think beyond these conventional labels and images! Understand that we care deeply about our families and neighborhoods. We take pride in who we are, and where we come from. We love our country, we are proud to be American.

Like many Americans, we too are frustrated by illegal immigration. For decades, our nation has been dependent on illegal labor, people from other countries to keep our economy stable. Current immigration laws have been crippling and have in the end failed us all. Listen, seek first to understand, learn lessons from the past.
**This was a production of The Coalition Against Illegal Immigration (CAII). If you would like to participate, please go to the above link to learn more. Afterwards, email the coalition and let me know at what level you would like to participate.**
