"How did it come to pass that an opposition's measure of a president's foreign policy was all or nothing, success or "failure"? The answer is that the political absolutism now normal in Washington arrived at the moment--Nov. 7, 2000--that our politics subordinated even a war against terror to seizing the office of the presidency." - Daniel Henninger - WSJ 11/18/05

Man Bites Dog In Seattle!

Oops, has Mr. Wolfe had his rabies shot?

Cross posted from The Violence Worker:

Man Bites Dog In Seattle!

Vance Wolfe was a manager of a trendy Seattle bistro called Café Septieme was fired for letting all of his employees have Monday off to march in the pro-illegal immigrant (invader) demonstration. Mr. Wolfe’s boss was upset that he closed the business without permission.

From KOMOTV News:

"I decided to give everyone the day off," says Wolfe.

Does he have any regrets?

"Not a single regret. It was the right cause."

The former restaurant manager knew the consequences. His boss told him not to do it and if he did, all 16 employees including 10 Latinos would be fired.

That didn't happen, but Wolfe was fired.

"I did get singled out, but I have no qualms about that," he said.

OK, So what’s the point? Why the title Man Bites Dog? A guy went against his boss and got fired for it. Happens all the time, right? Well yea, except there is a classic “man bites dog” twist.

The owner of Café Septieme and another restaurant called La Cocina Santiago is one Victor Santiago, a Latino immigrant. One presumes he is a LEGAL immigrant.

That’s right. Mr. Wolfe, who took it upon himself to close his restaurant in defiance of his boss works for a Latino immigrant.

Note to Mr. Wolfe: Look for your next job in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle. You know, the one with the statue of Lenin gracing its center. You’ll probably find folks more to your way of thinking.

As for Mr. Santiago, Thank you for coming to America and making the place a little better! I wish you great success!
