"How did it come to pass that an opposition's measure of a president's foreign policy was all or nothing, success or "failure"? The answer is that the political absolutism now normal in Washington arrived at the moment--Nov. 7, 2000--that our politics subordinated even a war against terror to seizing the office of the presidency." - Daniel Henninger - WSJ 11/18/05

PM: Iraqi troops battle ready in 2007

According CNN:

Iraqi troops will be able to handle security in all 18 of the country's provinces by the end of 2007 with additional training and equipment, the country's new prime minister said Wednesday.

Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki offered that forecast during a meeting with Denmark's prime minister, according to a statement from the Iraqi leader's office.

We'll see how this plays out as it would be nice if it worked, however, we should not be leaving there until appropriate. By the end of 2007, would be five years since we hit the ground running. As much as people have tweaked about this, in the scheme of things it's pretty damn quick; although in all honesty, not as quick as a tv series or movie.

The rest here....
