From Everything Alabama:
The Pelham ordinance requires rental property owners within the city limits to maintain a register listing the names of the people who live in their properties and whether they are older than 19. The number of adults allowed in a dwelling is limited to two per bedroom. Occupants and the property owners can be fined $500 and jailed for as much as six months if a violation is found.
Pelham’s building official Bob Miller said Thursday that the city hasn’t issued any citations under the ordinance.
I don’t know about the registry, but when I was renting on Long Island, NY, there were always occupancy limits based on the number of bedrooms; and that included children!
Look, it is obvious to me that this is a response to illegal immigrants living in their town. It is also good zoning practice, two per bedroom is plenty. Of course the American Communist Liberation Union disagrees…
Allison Neal, a staff attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union of Alabama, said Thursday the organization’s legal committee plans to review the ordinance, which infringes on the constitutional rights of Pelham residents in rental properties.
The statement requesting Pelham to rescind the ordinance, which passed unanimously Jan. 8, doesn’t mention an almost identical one passed in Helena on Monday. Neal said the organization was not aware of the action by the second Shelby County city.
“We’ll be looking into that, too,” Neal said.
I bet you will, Neal, I bet you will. They are fighting all the local ordinances being passed around the country to try and get the illegal alien invaders out of their towns. It is their mission in life to defend illegal aliens wherever they maybe. Why, because most south of the border illegal aliens are socialists. Keeping them here and getting them legalized would move the commie, oops socialist, movement forward in this country.
