"How did it come to pass that an opposition's measure of a president's foreign policy was all or nothing, success or "failure"? The answer is that the political absolutism now normal in Washington arrived at the moment--Nov. 7, 2000--that our politics subordinated even a war against terror to seizing the office of the presidency." - Daniel Henninger - WSJ 11/18/05

Hillary Clinton and the Politics of Resenting History - Lee Harris

I post this as a means of sharing a very thoughtful and well written column by Lee Harris at TCS Daily.

I cannot anything of depth to it, however, I can say what has been bothering me since Senator Clinton's comments the other day in Iowa.

Senator Clinton in so many words:

"It is Bush's mess, he chose this route. He should wrap it up and clean up the mess for his successor...."

Lee Harris speaks to this, but my concerns are:

1.) Is she truly this gullible to think pulling out will resolve everything and life will go back to the "old normal?"

2.) Who is she speaking to? Is she cynically speaking to the gullible, hoping to convince them of just such a thing?

3.) Do those I quoted in my last post, the "wise" ones across the pond believe this possible too?
