We'll Invest in What Works
From CNN:
'"Obama contrasted his plan with other attempts to strengthen the economy, saying that the difference is his plan "won't just throw money at our problems -- we'll invest in what works."'Cool...this time we'll just do what works...I like that...

Into the Unknown, with Same
Fred Barnes has written of the election arguing against the "conventional wisdom in the political community and the media" that the 2008 election was the best ever.
Prior to the financial crisis and following McCain's selection of Sarah Palin as his running mate, Barnes notes:
"(Y)et when the crisis began, McCain was 2,3,4, or 5 points ahead of Obama, depending on the poll. Within weeks, he was 4,5,6, or 7 points behind."Whatever "outside event(s)" occurred that effected the campaign and thereby the election are now the past and an election and campaign are now over.
"This is proof that politics is unfair. But politics, like life, has always been unfair. The point to consider is whether a presidential race so affected, even decided, by an outside event should be considered great. Answer: It shouldn't."
The "outside events" to follow and the reaction to them are the real test to come; the campaign is over and with it go the platitudes and rhetoric...well at least we can hope.

"Wolf Blitzer interviews Barack Obama on Friday and you can be part of it. Send in your questions."Oh, yeah, that's a good idea if you don't mind being pawed and taken down by "The One" and his campaign and media minions.

Video and Radio Suppression for Obama!!!
Barack Obama in his own words - Call In Radio Show (2001), at least it's out for people to hear it.
Barack Obama, in 2001 (audio link here):
"You know, if you look at the victories and failures of the civil-rights movement, and its litigation strategy in the court, I think where it succeeded was to vest formal rights in previously dispossessed peoples. So that I would now have the right to vote, I would now be able to sit at a lunch counter and order and as long as I could pay for it, I’d be okay, but the Supreme Court never entered into the issues of redistribution of wealth, and sort of more basic issues of political and economic justice in this society.
And uh, to that extent, as radical as I think people tried to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution — at least as it’s been interpreted, and Warren Court interpreted it in the same way, that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties: [It] says what the states can’t do to you, says what the federal government can’t do to you, but it doesn’t say what the federal government or the state government must do on your behalf.
And that hasn’t shifted, and one of the, I think, the tragedies of the civil-rights movement was because the civil-rights movement became so court-focused, uh, I think that there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing and activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributive change. And in some ways we still suffer from that."
"Shame, Cubed" Bill Whittle at NRO
As for video memories Andrew McCarthy at NRO asks:
"Why is the Los Angeles Times sitting on a videotape of the 2003 farewell bash in Chicago at which Barack Obama lavished praise on the guest of honor, Rashid Khalidi — former mouthpiece for master terrorist Yasser Arafat?"Gateway Pundit introduction:
"Introduction: The LA Times is holding a video that shows Barack Obama celebrating with a group of Palestinians who are openly hostile towards Israel. Barack Obama even gives a toast to a former PLO operative at this celebration. If the American public saw this side of Barack Obama he would never be elected president.
But, the media refuses to release this video."

Obama Says: Say it to My face
"I am surprised that, you know, we've been seeing some pretty over-the-top attacks coming out of the McCain campaign over the last several days, that he wasn't willing to say it to my face."

Perhaps Senator McCain is not sure which face to say it to.

McCain Leads and What Do You Know; Obama Follows
From Powerline ('nuff said):
"The neat thing about a presidential race between two Senators is that voters can make direct comparisons between the candidates that otherwise are not possible. This year, the comparisons work in John McCain's favor.McCain pushed for the "surge" in Iraq. Obama opposed it, saying it wouldn't work. When it worked, Obama said he knew it would work, but defended his vote anyway.
Two years ago, McCain warned that Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac were in serious need of reform and he so-sponsored legislation to reform it. Obama did not support this legislation, which the Democrats blocked. Obama was near the top of the list of recipients of contributions from Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac, and two executives from these outfits were among his campaign advisors.
McCain also had the right line on the Russian invasion of Georgia (though this was not a legislative issue). As Rudy Giuliani recounted at the Republican Convention, Obama waffled for a while and eventually adopted McCain's view. McCain led; Obama followed
Most recently, McCain figured out that he needed to get back to Washington to engage, and if possible provide leadership in, the momentous issue of the financial sector bailout. While McCain opted to help make something happen, Obama said he could be reached by phone if anything did happen.
Obama's position was untenable, so he eventually followed McCain back to Washington.
Hoping to cover for their "follower" of a presidential candidate, Democrats are claiming that McCain has done more harm than good in the legislative debate. Although this is always a possibility with McCain (and, indeed, just about anyone who is willing to lead), the Democrats' case is absurd.
Their argument is that Congress was on the verge of a deal until McCain entered the picture and caused Republican House members to block it. The problems with this script are several. First, there is no evidence that House Republicans were ever on board with any deal. Second, the support of House Republicans is not needed to pass bailout legislation. The Democrats control the House.
The Democrats counter the second point by saying that a majority of House Dems won't support a deal unless House Republicans provide "cover." But this argument raises more problems than it addresses. First, it is a serious condemnation of House Dems (too gutless to do what they think is right, even in the face of a potential economic meltdown). Second it is a serious condemnation of Nancy Pelosi (too ineffective to whip her troops into line even in the face of a potential economic meltdown). Third, it casts serious doubt on the wisdom of the deal that McCain is falsely accused of scuttling. If the deal made sense, House Dems wouldn't believe they need "cover" from House Republicans.
Fourth, the "cover" argument shows what a non-factor Obama is in all of this. The Dems complain (preposterously) that McCain has riled up House Republicans or failed to bring them around. Meanwhile, no one seems to be asking why Obama hasn't helped the House leadership obtain sufficient support from House Dems.
There's a reason why this question isn't being asked. Obama is lightweight from whom leadership is not, and should not, be expected."

McCain's Judgement "Dangerous" According to Slow Joe
Who cares what Senator Biden thinks regarding foreign affairs, especially if it happens to be about who was/is right and who was/is wrong. Mr. Biden is quoted at CNN.com as saying:
"we cannot afford a commander in chief who's divorced from reality and from America's most basic national interests""Divorced from reality?" He has to be kidding. Additionally, the man said:
"John McCain's the only one who doesn't get it."Exsqueeze me? Twisting it here, but if Biden is the correct one, he's wrong that McCain is the "only one who doesn't get it." There are a couple more of us dunderheads out there. Talk about being divorced from reality (again, setting aside anything the man or his Presidential nominee say)
Here's some top-notch (ass)crack reporting:
"Once he became a U.S. senator, Obama voted for a war spending bill that would have withdrawn most U.S. troops by March 2008 and had once called for troop withdrawals to begin by the end of 2006."Huh? Wha? What does this mean? Is this a was for, before being against something? This isn't one of the candidates saying this, this is a media fount making this statement. In the bag? You bet.

CNN "Fact Checks" Obama's Gun Stance
The "Facts" (as "discovered" after some really serious digging by CNN)
"On his campaign Web site, Obama says he respects the Second Amendment right to bear arms and "will protect the rights of hunters and other law-abiding Americans to purchase, own, transport and use guns."Read the rest of the "facts" here...
Granted, we all know that campaign ads can stretch credulity, but just how credulous is CNN that it goes to the politicians website for "facts?"
UPDATE: As there are a number of additonal "Fact articles" today with nary a one linking to Factcheck.org it would appear that once CNN has gotten you used to their writings using Factcheck and the "veracity" of it, they no longer use that source. Once they have you hooked, you might not question it anymore.

Obama's Chicago Annenberg CHALLENGE
Stanley Kurtz has been taking on the "challenge" of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge and the msm's reluctance to actually dig into Senator Obama's "experience" or lack thereof.
While the "mainstream" pulls out the shovels big enough to dig to China (and while there taking a page from its state run media) investigating Alaska Governor Sarah Palins history, Kurtz has taken on the "challenges" the media has not felt obliged, over the past 20 months to take regarding the "good" senator from Illinois. (holy run-on Batman)
Initially gaining access to records at the Richard J. Daley Library proved quite easy; excepting that being "granted access" and "actual access" are two different things. The farce of the open records was written and published 8/18/2008 by the author here at NRO.
This mornings WSJ offers the fruits of Kurtz's labor in "Obama and Ayers Pushed Radicalism On Schools." Mr. Kurtz offered the "gist" of his Annenberg findings to the Obama campaign; his comments and the campaigns response can be found at NRO, entitled "Obama's Challenge."
If readers find either of these writings intriguing it would behoove them to visit Stanley Kurtz's archive of articles written for NRO; he has taken on some of the questions of who exactly Mr. Obama is or might be, while those of the msm have been busy scratching the tingles up their legs.

CNN Poll of Polls and An Article to go With it
It's not enough that CNN cherry picks their sources for their "tell-all" poll of polls, but is it too much to expect them to tell it straight, when they're telling it to you "straight?"
The "Poll of Polls" which began the day 47 to 45, inexplicably tweaked itself as it tends to do the majority of days during the week to 47 44.
This "Ticker" (the shining Leftwing example of CNN; if you ignore which stories they pursue and push) noted the two point difference, but golly that's not what the "poll of polls" shows. Do they just change it at their whim?
UPDATE: To answer; "Do they just change it at their whim?" YES!!!
Apologies for the misunderstanding. Reading the "article" in the top image regarding the "Poll of Polls" that sees Obama with a two (2) point lead is based on 6 Liberal sources (including CBS/NYT). This afternoons "story" uses four (4), which makes much more sense; we all know none of this makes any sense to CNN and the MSM, so it only follows that it is necessary that the sources are changed up to reflect the best.
It does ones heart well to see it all so blatantly; no more hiding. Have you taken a moment to read comments at one of the MSM sites? The majority that comment don't really much care for reality to begin with. It's a very nice home for them.
