So as they claim, there is no media bias. I suppose one could say that now that Brokaw is retired he can in so many words reveal his true beliefs/feelings, though he still does the special report here and there. Koppel, while retiring from Nightline is moving over to the Discovery Channel, but I guess here we're talking cable so maybe his leanings are now revealable.
One question is, if these guys are so knowledgeable, worldly, and in the know newsmen, why can't speak more clearly? Why can't they be straight? Why do for example, Koppel says "And there are 43 million Americans who aren't getting any medical care at all." This isn't the issue, is it? We can get healthcare, it's so many people that don't have health insurance, no? So why not stay on subject?
Read the piece and decide for yourself. As with everything, it isn't the end all, but it is a piece to the puzzle, with staying on the appropriate subject without changing it to make your point.
After all is said and done; Koppel can say "You can get the best medical care in the world, he can get the best medical care in the world, I can."; if it comes down to socializing healthcare as in Europe and Canada - One let's try to learn from their mistakes with regard to what works and what doesn't and Two, let's make sure that even these wealthy, do-gooder fat cats have to use it too.
"How did it come to pass that an opposition's measure of a president's foreign policy was all or nothing, success or "failure"? The answer is that the political absolutism now normal in Washington arrived at the moment--Nov. 7, 2000--that our politics subordinated even a war against terror to seizing the office of the presidency." - Daniel Henninger - WSJ 11/18/05
