"How did it come to pass that an opposition's measure of a president's foreign policy was all or nothing, success or "failure"? The answer is that the political absolutism now normal in Washington arrived at the moment--Nov. 7, 2000--that our politics subordinated even a war against terror to seizing the office of the presidency." - Daniel Henninger - WSJ 11/18/05

Friday Sermon from Iran

“Foreigners want to push Muslim Umma into a degrading position and get them engaged in internal strife.” - Tehran's substitute Friday prayers leader Ayatollah Mohammad Emami Kashani

The bizarre practice of Friday prayers in Tehran continues and as usual if you are looking for what many think of in terms of a religious service, you won’t be finding it here.

Tehran's substitute Friday prayers leader Ayatollah Mohammad Emami Kashani had the usual rants about the U.S., Zionists and in addition nations in the region that are currently allies of the U.S. purchasing arms.

Kashani used KosProse paranoia/propaganda when referring to the sale(s) to “save its arms manufacturing companies from bankruptcy and get money out of Muslims' pocket and put it in Israel's instead. So we have yet another instance of Iran taking a page from the internal enemies of our country.

"The world of Islam should remain cohesive and united despite all the ongoing conspiracies so that Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan and other Muslim states are freed,"

"If the US allies in the region are wise enough they should know that the Islamic Republic of Iran is not a threat and has instead been supporting any Muslim in every corner of the world. The Islamic Republic of Iran is not after arms and whole the world knows the fact well that western claims on Iran's peaceful nuclear program are false."

Of course Iran just wouldn’t be Iran if only their “peaceful” religious leaders were the only ones badmouthing Israel. In response to Israel requesting the U.N. condemn Iran for violating human rights, Mohammad Khazaei said:

“The Zionist regime's useless attempts to raise human rights charges against Iran is just a futile effort aimed at diverting attention from its own scandalous human rights record.”

Lastly and just for fun, there is a smell in the air over Iran; “addressing a ceremony to celebrate graduation of a number of officers… Number of officers????
