"How did it come to pass that an opposition's measure of a president's foreign policy was all or nothing, success or "failure"? The answer is that the political absolutism now normal in Washington arrived at the moment--Nov. 7, 2000--that our politics subordinated even a war against terror to seizing the office of the presidency." - Daniel Henninger - WSJ 11/18/05

Iran, Iraq, Levin and Murtha - Mowaffak al-Rubaie Meets with the Big Guys

The Mullah’s effectively broke the deadlock on negotiations at the conference held earlier this week in Vienna that sought to improve the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty.

The Mullah’s “felt that wording would allow it to be targeted for defying U.N. Security Council demands for Tehran to suspend uranium enrichment, a process that can produce both fuel for electricity-generating nuclear reactors and material for atomic warheads.

A “South African proposal accepted Tuesday will footnote the phrase to reflect that all aspects of the treaty must be fully observed an allusion to the need for the United States and other nuclear weapons states to disarm.”

With this twist in the language of the treaty the Mullahs broke the stalemate, which is great news as we can all look forward to further Iranian cooperation on the “peaceful nuke” question. Thanks to the Mullah’s permission this will allow the delegations in negotiation of the NPT changes to begin to “lay the ground work for a 2010 conference that is to review and possibly revise the pact to make it more effective in curbing the spread of nuclear arms.

The truly great news regarding the breakthrough moment is the laying of the groundwork for the 2010 conference, which is forward momentum in discussions about talking and likely time enough to make the Iranian nuclear question moot – Problem solved!!!

Iran continues to look for ways to help the U.S. save face in Iraq. More recently the “Mullahs' Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, has offered the United States Tehran's cooperation in developing a U.S. exit strategy from Iraq.

Iran, knowing full well that an immediate withdrawal would be disastrous, nonetheless believes “there should be a plan.

Here in the U.S. the national security adviser to the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mowaffak al-Rubaie met with intransigent allies to Iran like Carl Levin and John Murtha.

Not much to report on with regard to the Murtha, but I guess he stuck to his guns or the chicken he was eating stuck to his clothes…not sure what/which; but talks “appeared to lead to no fundamental shift in their positions.

Said al-Rubaie:

‘“We need to make people understand our perspective — what are the challenges we are facing, what are the difficulties we are facing. We are not lying and doing nothing.”’

In an ungrateful moment al-Rubaie said:

‘“We believe that some people in D.C. are asking the government to do something not in their hand — beyond the capacity of the government. If you ram it down our throats and sync it to Washington because of the election cycle things will crumble.”’

You don’t say? Hmmmm

At one point in appears that Rubaie stressed to Levin that “Iraq was involved in a historic process to overcome the long legacy of authoritarian rule, and that the early withdrawal of American troops would lead to chaos.

In a let them eat cake moment Levin replied regarding a needed partial troop withdrawal in four months for the sake of putting pressure on the Iraqis:

Clocks are action-forcing mechanisms,”’ and as Rubaie spoke of the need to ‘“to educate a generation.”’ Levin snorting pompously added, ‘“I told him that is too long.”’

Final thought…action forcing mechanisms sometimes work to the wrong sides advantage; much like laying the groundwork to a meeting for sometime in 2010 for problems today.

A Nation of Laws fit for the Likes of Cho Seung-Hui

No, this isn’t about the “abortion foes,” and the Supreme Court ruling on late term abortion, medicinally referred to as “intact dilation and evacuation.” I’m talking about Iranian Supreme Court decision yesterday to overturn the murder convictions of six members of the Basiji Force, a state militia that comes under the control of the Revolutionary Guards.

According to Iran’s Islamic penal code, “murder charges can be dropped if the accused can prove the killing was carried out because the victim was morally corrupt.” The accused or convicted six were involved in 2002 killing of five people in Kerman, Iran and based their decision to kill following their viewing a “tape by a senior cleric who ruled that Muslims could kill a morally corrupt person if the law failed to confront that person.” Further examples of moral corruption “permit bloodshed, including armed banditry, adultery by a wife and insults to the Prophet Muhammad.”

Following the identification of the five victims as “morally corrupt,” the convicted men took their victims outside the city, then “stoned them to death or drowned them in a pond by sitting on their chests.” The last of the five murdered “were a young couple engaged to be married who the killers claimed were walking together in public.”

The moral corruption of those that would walk together, regardless of their being engaged will likely see them in hell. Can you imagine the apostasy of the couple alone? Who did these deviants think they were? Rightly, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad support the Basiji Force and “considered their victims morally corrupt and, according to Islamic teachings and Iran’s Islamic penal code, their blood could therefore be shed.

The case finds many in Iran unhappy with the penal code and this decision, which leads many to lose confidence in their country’s judicial system.

What is wrong with these citizens, are they living in the 21st century or something along those lines? Before they speak or consider anything further they should heed the ruling of the court “The objection by the relatives of the victims is dismissed, and the ruling of this court is confirmed.”

Friday Sermon from Iran - March 9, 2007

I think it would be quite possible to just re-post the same "Sermon" post each Friday as, for the most part they do not change.

This Friday however, I did learn something I did not realize as I knelt in prayer.

Tehran's substitute Friday Prayers Leader Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati revealed:

"Concerning a meeting recently held in Pakistan attended by some Muslim countries, Ayatollah Jannati said it was a wonder and the representatives from the attending countries just disgraced themselves."
And, a NEWER and previous unto heretofore unheard of revelation!
"They did not even condemn the Zionists for destroying al-Aqsa Mosque."
Forgive me Allah and Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), I did not realize; please repeat this and other "truths" over and over so that we may not forget.

    Friday Sermon From Iran

Substitute Friday prayers leader of Tehran Hojjatoleslam Ahmad Khatami dressed the U.S. down with:

"Americans should know that their threatening approach towards Iranian government and nation is exhausted and no longer effective and Iranian people pay no attention to that,"
Also, watch out for the grass roots groups on February 11, 2007; the 28th anniversary of the Iranian Revolution:
"Iranian nation will on the day show once again that the US can not do a damn thing"
Where even Allah fears to tread, Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki called for quick restructuring of U.N. during his opening act for the "Friday Sermon":
"Current structure of the UN, in which certain states have the veto power, is unfair; it should soon be reformed."
This structure obviously is not fair as the many that stick together as a thorn in the U.S.' side is not good enough. Also, considering the "successful" restructuring of the "human rights council"

Iran is alone and surrounded in the region, which should be of concern....Mottaki:
"Security in Iraq is not so much important for any country in and even out of the region as it is for Iran."
So, uh Iran should continue everything in it's power to keep Iraq the security mess it is so that Iran may then clean it up????????

    Friday Sermon From Iran

    According to IRNA:

"Tehran's substitute Friday Prayers Leader Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani by referring to the enemies' conspiracies said national unity must be maintained and those who cause discord should not be let make trouble."
I think he means us, but he also means within Iran....Freedom is great, isn't it?

Last week, Substitute Friday prayers leader of Tehran Ayatollah Mohammad Emami Kashani:

warned against the US and UK attempts to divide Shiites and Sunnis and said the world, including the Middle East and Muslim world, have become growingly aware.”

    Which I found:

Odd that anything Tehran accuses the West of is something they, themselves are heavily involved in. Kashani calls for non-interference between Shiites and Sunnis, yet Michael Ledeen says:

We have arrested officers from the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in Baghdad and Irbil, apparently with considerable documentation of the mullahs’ support for both Sunni and Shiite terrorists.”
This week, substitute Friday Prayers Leader Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said:
"We are relatively in a hard situation. Our enemies, after repeated failures, have returned with new tactics."
The statement, if taken to it's logical conclusion sounds an awful lot like a case of nothing the Mullahs should be concerned about - that is if they're not in Iraq.

Visit Regime Change Iran for daily news on Momo Ahmadinejad and the Mullahs.

Iran and al qaeda are not the only ones in Iraq; Michelle Malkin has the goods on an even more looming threat in Iraq, "Nancy Pelosi in Baghdad."

    Friday Sermon From Iran

Substitute Friday prayers leader of Tehran Ayatollah Mohammad Emami Kashani,

“warned against the US and UK attempts to divide Shiites and Sunnis and said the world, including the Middle East and Muslim world, have become growingly aware.”

    Saying:

"Unity between Shiites and Sunnis should be real, from bottom of their hearts and for the sake of God; and it should not be geo-politically and economically motivated"

I couldn’t agree more. Amazing that the U.S. says one thing (we want unity, peace), yet practice just the opposite; using the “a page from the Bush Political Playbook.” I guess the evil Bush-devil is only interested in crushing Islam and controlling Middle Eastern oil.

    So much for unity….

    Friday Sermon from Iran

Church services can be so refreshing and revitalizing.....

This Friday's Sermon was led by Substitute Friday prayers leader of Tehran Hojjatoleslam Ahmad Khatami (also a member of the Experts Assembly). In spreading peace and love to the faithful, according to IRNA:

"Americans should know that access to peaceful nuclear technology is the joint call of the Iranian nation; Americans will not be able to confront the national will."
Regarding the UN Security Council for it's passage of Resolution 1737:
"The anti-Iranian resolution is really a psychological operation against Iran before being an executive resolution." AND "Iran has not received the equipment from you; the technology of Iran is domesticated and you can not take any measure (against the country) in that concern."
Oh, no, no, no, you don't have any extra-border technology....the truth Ahmadinejad and the Mullahs speak is peculiar to only them. Praise Allah...PBUH

    Friday Sermon from Iran

IRNA shares this weeks Friday Sermon:

'"Tehran's Substitute Friday prayers leader Ayatollah Emami Kashani warned Muslims against plots made by the West to sow discord among the Shia and Sunni.

"The enemy is preparing a massive plan for the Islamic world and for the entire region," said the cleric addressing the worshipers at Tehran University campus.

He stressed that after the Western states were obliged to admit the defeat of their policies in Iraq, Lebanon and Afghanistan, they have decided to set up new plans.

"Shia-Sunni division is a dirty lesson taught by the world arrogance in Muslim countries," Ayatollah Kashani said regretting that the lesson was used by some of the Muslim states."'

Also, brimming with love and peace for all mankind, "the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei sent a message to the Hajj pilgrims;" with such classics as:
"The Muslim ummah embraces various nations, races and followers of different sects in Islam. This diversity and the vast geographical stretch of the ummah in a sensitive and important part of the planet Earth can be a source of strength."
Very multicultural or better yet, multi-sectual of him.
"From the very first days of their entry into the Islamic countries, the Western colonialist powers have taken account of this diversity and have consistently attempted to arouse divisive sentiments."
We in the West detest "diversity" like no other. We in the West seek to divide Shia and Sunni; not the other way around....anyone heard of a place called Iraq?

"With the commencement of Islamic awakening which reached its peak with the emergence of the Islamic republic in Iran, the Western camp faced a formidable threat."

A threat to reality and peace.

Observations upon an obviously split second "glance:"
    "A glance at today's Palestine which has a government that has come to power committed to the unchangeable principle of 'liberation from Zionist occupation', and comparison of the present situation with the seclusion, isolation and weakness of Palestinian people in the past;

    "A glance at Lebanon in which the Muslims put their lives on the line to defeat the equipped Israeli army with all the help that it received from the U.S., the West and other hypocritical powers, and its comparison with the Lebanon that the Zionists could easily encroach upon and move forward without any real obstacles; "A glimpse at Iraq, in which its proud people humiliated the pompous America, and bogged down the army and politicians that boasted of having a free hand in Iraq, in a quagmire of political, military and economic problems, and its comparison with previous Iraq in which its bloodthirsty leader brutalized its people with the encouragement of the United States;

    "A glance at today's Afghanistan in which all the promises of the US and the West have turned out to be lies and the unprecedented military expedition of the united front of Western countries have produced nothing, except destruction, poverty, killings and the growing power of the narcotics mafia;

"And finally, a glance at the youthful populations of the Islamic countries and the generation with growing tendency toward Islamic values and the rising sentiments against the US and the West; "Looking at all these developments provides us with a clear and true picture of the falling fortunes and the failed policies of the arrogant powers, especially the United States, and augur well for the emergence of the united Islamic identity."
