"How did it come to pass that an opposition's measure of a president's foreign policy was all or nothing, success or "failure"? The answer is that the political absolutism now normal in Washington arrived at the moment--Nov. 7, 2000--that our politics subordinated even a war against terror to seizing the office of the presidency." - Daniel Henninger - WSJ 11/18/05

San Fran Nan: Free Range Open Borders and an Education on Us: The "Nightmare Act" - NeoCon Command Center

The NeoCon Command Center has a nice post revealing more of what some people elected this past November. Which I guess is better to these folks than a president that is said "to lie," vs politicians that actually do.

A few thoughts before I hand you over.

San Fran Nan hid nice and low hiding what she was truly about until after the election; oddly enough they all did, with the exception of the more Conservative Dems that were the poster children for electoral purposes only.

The Nightmare Act

"A new version of the bipartisan DREAM Act, which addresses the tragedy of young people who grew up in the United States and have graduated from U.S. high schools but whose future is circumscribed by current immigration laws."
We have a this time, a government that refuses to do anything about immigration reform; unless of course it can be done in a "comprehensive" manner. This is much better than allowing enforcement first, followed by fixes to other portions lacking; thereby allowing all manner of "comprehensive" garbage to be slipped in right under our noses.

Following on the heals of wasting as much time as they can with their "non-binding" cheese platters, the Democratic Leadership now seeks to continue building upon their voter rolls by playing nice with "illegal" aliens (I'm sure voting won't be far behind). Along with the usual talk of immigration reform that grants an "illegal alien felony free pass," on the road to citizenship; they now wish to force states to charge the children of "illegal aliens" in-state tuition rates.

Reacting to the citizenry's opposition of any kind to "comprehensive" immigration reform garners the label of xenophobe, racist and so on. This unfortunately is all we can expect to receive from cluelessly elected officials as citizens of this country.

Good luck getting student financial assistance for college if your parents make too much money to qualify, yet too little to put you through it. Nancy et al would like for you, the taxpayer to foot the bill for the children of felons; although she cares, so we'll only have to pay the in-state going rate. Thanks.....

We have an immigration nightmare on our hands, because of these very officials or those of their ilk. Rather than enforce what we have on the books now, they've been ignored. Fill the void with rhetoric and it requires "reform." What if enforcing the laws we have now actually worked? But that doesn't matter because eventually they'll break what's not fixed or fix what's not broken and end up breaking it or......logic evades at this point.

I, as an American citizen want my "in-state" tuition rights regardless of state I choose to pop over to. I would also like my own "U.S. Citizen felony free pass," before these *sshats do anything. Sorry, I'm pissed!

The MSM is NOT Liberally Biased

For the sake of argument, let’s say that the main stream media is not liberally biased, but is middle of the road as they claim.

Then how is exempting American Samoa from the minimum wage increase middle of the road? Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said two weeks ago when the exemption was noted:

"I have asked the education and labor committee as they go forward with the legislation to make sure that all of the territories have to comply with U.S. law on the minimum wage,"

Yesterday according to the Washington Times (good luck finding it elsewhere):

“The Democrat-controlled Senate took up a bill yesterday that would raise the minimum wage across the United States and its territories but exempt American Samoa, where tuna canneries pay workers $3.26 an hour.”

It’s odd that something this fishy (pun intended) has not raised the interest of the msm as it would were it the other side of the aisle slipping in this loophole.

Raising the minimum wage wouldn’t have the negative effect on employment, pricing or anything along those lines as Democrats claim. Oddly enough, this would happen in American Samoa if the wage were raised from the $3.26/hr now paid there, at least according to Eni F.H. Faleomavaega, a nonvoting Democrat representing American Samoa:

A "decrease in production or departure of one or both of the two canneries in American Samoa could devastate the local economy, resulting in massive layoffs and insurmountable financial difficulties."

"The truth is the global tuna industry is so competitive that it is no longer possible for the federal government to demand mainland minimum-wage rates for American Samoa without causing the collapse of our economy and making us welfare wards of the federal government.”

Hmmmm, but nothing like layoffs would happen in the continental United States.

They’re just not interested because it’s so middle of the road, leaning neither Right or Left.

    Dems taking over....

    They'll run a clean house.....unh huhn

CNN shares the convenient "fact" that:

"Exit polls showed that rising discontent over the war in Iraq and a spate of corruption scandals helped drive voters in November to hand Democrats control of both houses of Congress for the first time since 1994."

"And a national poll released this week showed Democrats have strong support for nearly all the measures they want to pass in their first days in charge."

Changing mandate results? The mandate is what they want it to be.

    Harry Reid said:

"Our efforts are going to be to work in a bipartisan basis in an open fashion to solve the problems of the American people." Although not in the first 100 hours I guess....

Nancy's having a party and you're not invited!

    From Time Magazine:
"Who can begrudge Pelosi her four-day "coronation," as right-wing wags have dubbed it? The events themselves are hardly ostentatious: there's a mass, a tea, and prayer service. The most raucous thing on the schedule is a concert by Tony Bennett. Add a tote bag and it'd be a PBS telethon. Indeed, the demographic-pleasing tenor of the events reeks of a self-conscious desire to highlight all soft-focus interest groups that come with the Pelosi package: Italian, female, Catholic, grandmother."
The "party of inclusiveness" is having a '"People's Open House" party by invitation-only.' The "Peoples Open House" is about as incongruous an example of what the Democratic party is. Oddly the media doesn't see any issues with this....odd.
