"How did it come to pass that an opposition's measure of a president's foreign policy was all or nothing, success or "failure"? The answer is that the political absolutism now normal in Washington arrived at the moment--Nov. 7, 2000--that our politics subordinated even a war against terror to seizing the office of the presidency." - Daniel Henninger - WSJ 11/18/05

Hillary Clinton has Learned from Partisanship

WAPO:

"Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton pushed back against criticism from fellow Democrats that she is too polarizing to unite the country as president, arguing that the political battles she has been through make her uniquely equipped to bring the nation together and build a centrist governing coalition."
How does she propose doing anything from a "centrist" position when she is so far Left (excepting for political reasons) that she almost falls off the edge?

Is there a center-far-left?

  • Berger Raw and the Quest for Power: Crime Pays

Very recently it was reported that Sandy Berger is on board the Clinton presidential campaign as an adviser; it cannot be for legal advice as he has lost his license to practice law, much like his previous boss though not for the same reason.

DeMediacratic Nation has not bothered to post on this turn of events due to it's ridiculousness and that, well to be honest it would be stated more properly elsewhere and this morning that belief has borne the expected fruit.

The editors at NRO have a few words regarding the Berger:

"Berger used his privileged access to steal top-secret national-defense documents. On at least two occasions he stuffed them into his clothing and briefcase, smuggling them out of the archives. He secreted some of these stolen papers under the wheel of a truck at a nearby construction site so that he could return for them later. Other documents he intentionally destroyed. These actions were serious felonies."
Hsu, Berger, the Clinton Presidency itself and others tarnish the Clinton campaign with enough questionableness that any sane person has to wonder why this senator holds a commanding lead on the Left side of the aisle; what do some have against reality?

Clinton, the Left and Adherence to the Agenda

    From MSNBC

Clinton picked up the endorsement of the 300,000-member National Association of Letter Carriers in Washington today.” (yesterday) This is a good example of people supporting those that keep them busy with work, considering all the donations that must get sent through the mail to her. That and their, semi-partial-kind of in a way-quasi governmental employment status.

With the remark to General David Petraeus at Tuesday afternoon’s hearing by candidate for President, Senator Hillary Clinton, "the reports that you provide to us really require the willing suspension of disbelief," one has to wonder why the possibility or activity of suspending disbelief is something new to a Clinton.

In a nation torn by its presence in Iraq is it really the right time to so pit one side against another, especially by someone that has managed, as her husband has to suspend the disbelief of so many? When activists, clueless mind you, put President Bush down as a Fascist (this includes those of us that agree with our presence in Iraq and take the threats to our nation seriously and God forbid consider outside, rather than inside the government) their rhetoric is fully supported by the spewing of this candidate and other Leftist Democrats in her party that fail to appreciate that not all wounds can be healed.

Senator Clinton is stuck in her formative college days and appears to have no desire to depart it; especially since it works so well for the coffers. She has yearned for the office she is running toward for most, if not all of her adult life; might there be a chance she will do whatever it takes to see that dream through? This is more than can be said for the present commander in chief, yet he is some cog or leader in some imagined ultra secret coup to control the country. Bush, at the same time, back in his college days likely didn’t concern himself with so selfless a career.

Today, “disappointed Democrats map a withdrawal strategy” for Iraq as “Obama Offers Most Extensive Plan Yet for Winding Down War,” and has drawn “criticism from the left of his party for being too timid and from Republicans as being irresponsible.” Goodness, what could be more Left of those running for president than the Democrat candidates themselves at a time that does not yet require a scramble to the “center?”

One does not “wind down a war” that like most wars has a life of its own that requires reaction and adjustment as much as it does constantly fluid tactics. The Left looks to wind down to defeat or an “end (same difference),” while the inhabitants on the other side of the aisle look to ways toward success in the long war. Both sides actively pursue success; however success is viewed entirely differently, which should not require further explanation since we’ve been here since almost day one.

Back to the shining example of an almost lustful desire for the highest office in the land; Senator Clinton. Yesterday, The Times reported that “Mrs.” Clinton is facing what is described as her biggest fear or vulnerability; “Some sort of fund-raising scandal that would echo the Clinton-era controversies of the 1990s and make her appear greedy or ethically challenged;” appearing what one is, is not something the candidate cares to appear. Mrs. Clinton told aides this year to vet major donors carefully and help her avoid situations in which she might appear to be trading access for big money.” Poor staffing selection or a cover for the micromanagement the senator is known for?

Ever since the falling of the other Hsu, the press has treaded the scandal of financing gingerly due to its chosen ones role in it; we get the stories but not the continuous in your face, please don’t forget motivation that follows the guide on of reportage on Republican scandals. Myrna Blyth wonders this morning, why “didn’t Hillary’s fundraising staff ever bother to call to thank the nice Paw family of 41 Shelbourne Avenue, Daly City, California for the almost $45,000 they donated to her presidential campaign? The Paws, big givers, have contributed over $200,000 to Democratic candidates since 2005. Hillary has been so willing this summer, often with Bill in tow, to make house calls on fundraisers at the Vineyard or in East Hampton. Why didn’t she want to drop in to share a cup of tea and a wonton or two with such generous West Coast supporters? Maybe if she or one of her staffers had paid that courtesy call, they might have been surprised the open-handed Paws, all six of them, lived in a tiny, 1280-square-foot bungalow painted an unfortunate though appropriate shade of green. Why indeed?

The candidates “china syndrome” is one in a laundry list of questionable activities and ties. Big money in politics is unfortunately a “necessary” evil in this day and age and it’s not nothing; but the bigger questions might be the judgment of those that toe the line of Leftist agendas that have no rosier a past than any other obsessively adhered to unquestioning dogma.

The Right Doesn't Make Scandals Like the Old Hat Left

It’s odd that someone in the public eye like a politician would risk their career and/or what they have accomplished for some fun. The recent media revelation of an Idaho senator’s attempt at participating in what is called “anonymous sex,” is just such a case.

Senator Craig is not the first, nor will he be the last, but do you ever notice how much media play a Conservative politician rates when they have fallen from grace? This, we are told is attributed to the usual Conservative stance of “family values,” and the juxtaposition of this moral ethic and “anonymous sex.”

This is, as many have said already a double standard between what constitutes a Conservative scandal and a Liberal scandal. As only one example, Former President Bill Clinton participated in lewd conduct with an intern in the Oval Office of all places and lied about it under oath before a grand jury, yet he escaped impeachment and to this day is the darling of the Left.

Recently Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign has been caught in a bit of a mess with donations from questionable sources, the Paw Family and Norma Hsu. It is by no means expected that Ms. Clinton should know about every donor on her list, although Hsu is one of the few, and the proud mendacious “Hillraisers,” so it shouldn’t in that instance be too much of a stretch to have the campaign get a clue about it.

What should be of concern is of the Democrat scandals that lose the front page quickly one that should be back up there loud and clear is the Clinton political machines other questionable campaign financing scandals and how the old intersects (thanks to Jason Breidenbach for the link) with the new.

America Coming Together, a 527 group presided over by former Clinton aide Harold Ickes and heavily funded by George Soros and other wealthy Leftwing individuals getting richer with George Bush’s tax cuts : ), has been required to pay a fine the equivalent of which is a paltry fraction of the almost $100 million spent in the 2004 election.

A scandal of this nature should tower over the perversions of a “family values” politician as the ramifications of such has a vast scope and ultimately affects us all in that Senator Clinton is vying for the highest office in the land

For a further view into the Liberal, Leftist, scandal read some excerpts from Byron York’s 2005 book “The Vast Left Wing Conspiracy,” which is available at NRO today and paints the reality in clear, concise description, which begins with the author’s note:

On Wednesday, the Federal Election Commission slapped America Coming Together with a $775,000 fine — the third-largest such penalty in history — for violating campaign-finance laws in the 2004 election. Now largely defunct, America Coming Together was the biggest of the so-called “527” groups that took in millions from donors like George Soros for the purpose of defeating George W. Bush. In a case that has taken years to decide, the FEC ruled that America Coming Together did an end-run around the campaign-finance laws in 2004 by claiming it was using its money for non-partisan purposes like voter registration when it was in fact spending millions specifically targeting Bush.”

Political Grind has a discussion post up for debate/comments about the Craig scandal; comment system is via Intense Debate a "beta-ish" application that is not perfected yet, but its possibilities are endless. Give it a visit and keep the discussion going...

The Clinton China Connection - Paw Family Donates $45K

    Per Drudge linking to WSJ:

"Six members of the Paw family, each listing the house at 41 Shelbourne Ave. as their residence, have donated a combined $45,000 to the Democratic senator from New York since 2005, for her presidential campaign, her Senate re-election last year and her political action committee. In all, the six Paws have donated a total of $200,000 to Democratic candidates since 2005, election records show."

"William Paw, the 64-year-old head of the household, is a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service who earns about $49,000 a year, according to a union representative. Alice Paw, also 64, is a homemaker. The couple's grown children have jobs ranging from account manager at a software company to "attendance liaison" at a local public high school. One is listed on campaign records as an executive at a mutual fund."

Hillary Clinton is an Evil Political Machine

    From the NY Post:

"It's a horrible prospect to ask yourself, 'What if? What if?' But if certain things happen between now and the election, particularly with respect to terrorism, that will automatically give the Republicans an advantage again, no matter how badly they have mishandled it, no matter how much more dangerous they have made the world," Clinton told supporters in Concord."
Wouldn't it be great, if as "horrible" a prospect as it would be, if our issues with terror organizations wasn't just a political football? Wouldn't it be great if the terrorists were the bad guys?

The Democrat party and it's politicians disgust me to no end. So not only would good news from Iraq be bad for their party's prospects; a terror attack would be too. Not because it's a worthless party on defense, oh no...

I don't doubt for a second that this political beast that is Hillary Clinton could care less about an attack with the exception being that it might deny her the office she has coveted for likely more than two decades.

    Hillary; compassionate misanthrope

Hillary doesn’t trust humankind, which fits in nicely with the Liberal mindset; leave it to us and the nanny state will take care of you.

Here’s a question and it’s something that has been irking me for some time now; why are all the candidates referred to as Romney, Richardson, Paul, McCain, etc., yet Clinton is always “Hillary,” by haters and lovers alike?

But I digress…ever since the “secret” letters came out in the NY Times from a young “Hillary” the toilet paper has been all about her. Posts here were not in depth, just with a certain disgust when I would view the front page for tripe being shoveled out to the masses. The same day an announcement was made in the Times that it and NBC News were joining forces or collaborating on election coverage both entities of the same stripe had humanizing “Hillary” filler. The day that followed offered yet more of the same; you couldn’t get away from it.

Enjoy Brent Bozell’s latest, as were going to be seeing a lot more of it, “Humanizing Hillary, Canonizing Chelsea:”

“Here’s one sign that Hillary Clinton is the Democratic presidential frontrunner. Reporters are tripping over themselves to convince us how likable and human she is, strong and yet nurturing. It’s the same playbook the media used for Al Gore and John Kerry, both just as stiff, robotic, and unlikeable then as Hillary is now. So they’re portraying Hillary not only as strong and invincible, but also as warm as a down comforter and as sweet as Mrs. Butterworth.

The New York Times stands out as a primary transmission belt for the Clinton campaign’s effort to melt the ice-queen image. On the front page July 29, Times political writer Mark Leibovich lavished his awe on personal correspondence Hillary wrote as a Wellesley co-ed to her high school friend John Peavoy at Princeton. The headline was “In the ‘60s, a Future Candidate Poured Her Heart Out in Letters.”

Not an easy thing to do, but they’re pros, read the rest of “Humanizing Hillary, Canonizing Chelsea.”

Two Liberal Wrongs do NOT Make a Right

The NY Times and NBC News are going to be “collaborating” in their coverage of the 2008 presidential campaign.

Interesting, that word “collaboration,” Vichy is the first word to come to mind. So it’s official, rather than trying to bounce off each others tactics the two Liberally slanted sources of “news” will be openly conspiring together to slant the “news.”

Executive editor of the paper, in a message to the staff said:

“In brief, the arrangement goes like this: We will give NBC stories, graphics, pictures and The Caucus blog for their Web site. They will give us video for ours along with links that should expose many new readers to our online journalism.”

And it begins, I guess with video and article about the woman who would be president. Collaboration it is…

Clinton, Byrd, Pelosi and Reid - We Give Up!

I’m still somewhat miffed by this callous opinion “piece” written by the illustrious Senators Clinton and Byrd. Last night I did not speak so much to what they said ‘in their polled opinion,’ rather it was more a reaction. It sickened me that their inability to deal with day to day changing realities of the Iraq theater in the greater war on terror is someone else's fault. Iraq changed the moment someone considered doing something other than the status quo or sanctions, no fly zones and the rest. It changed the moment the media made mention of it, long before the U.S. entered Iraq.

The senators sent President Bush an interesting challenge:

“If the Bush administration believes that the current war, as it is being executed, is critical to America's future, then it should make the case and let the people decide. Explain to the public why our young men and women should be sent into the middle of a fight between religious factions. Explain why we should continue to devote $10 billion each month to this fight.”

Odd that the president has all the explaining to do, when no one (and this is nothing new) from the anti-war side of the argument feels the need to explain what happens next?

This morning, Ralph Peters makes a stab at it for the consistent Democrat party; consistent in support of “our enemies from the start, undercutting our troops and refusing to explain in detail what happens if we flee Iraq.”

    Peters this morning:

“So I'll tell you what happens: massacres. And while I have nothing against Shia militiamen and Sunni insurgents killing each other 24/7, the overwhelming number of victims will be innocent women, children and the elderly.”

Bosnia? That was just rough-necking at recess compared to what Islamist fanatics and ethnic beasts will do. Given that Senate Majority Misleader Harry Reid and Commissar of the House Nancy Pelosi won't tell us what they foresee after we quit, let me lay it out”

And lay it out he does. This is suggested reading and suggested that everyone that cares about the damage the “leadership” is doing to our nation get this, “THE ‘QUIT IRAQ’ CAUCUS: Recipe for Massacre” out there and everywhere.

Hillary Clinton to Look Under Carpet in Oval Office

On Friday in Iowa Hillary Clinton had this to say regarding the corruption of the present administration:

From angusreid, global monitor (and heard on Laura Ingraham):

"When I walk into the Oval Office in 2009, I’m afraid I’m going to lift up the rug and I’m going to see so much stuff under there. You know, what is it about us always having to clean up after people?"
Did she ever consider looking on top of the carpet while her husband was in office?

FBI Reports Duct-Taping, 'Baptizing' at Guantanamo

    According to WaPo:

"The reports released yesterday were the result of an internal survey conducted in 2004 by the FBI, which asked nearly 500 employees who had served at Guantanamo Bay to report possible mistreatment by law enforcement or military personnel. More than two dozen incidents were reported, including some that the government had revealed in earlier document releases."
Some of the abuses mentioned by the Washington Post:
"frequent flyer program," in which detainees who were deemed uncooperative were placed on a list to be subjected to special sleep-deprivation tactics. The prisoners were moved frequently from cellblock to cellblock at intervals of two to four hours to interrupt their sleep."

Previously reported abuses, "wrapping a prisoner in an Israeli flag, subjecting others to extreme heat and cold, and aggressively using strobe lights on others."
Ultimately, investigations are necessary when incidences like these are revealed, however they don't seem to rise to the level that the ACLU apparently feels that they do:
"More comprehensive investigation is needed, not only into the scope of abuses but into the root causes and policies that led to those incidents."
The fact that the ACLU is involved at all, really should make people wonder just who this group actually represents. Perhaps it's time for a new name for the "union."

Visit Stop the ACLU for up to date "abuses," of our system by the ACLU.

Also visit Rightwing Guy for his "The Clinton Mistake," Hillary that is. RWG doesn't have that positive a take on her and I would tend to agree. There is something about this person that has always struck me as completely made up and interested in only one thing, "power." Her power.
