Israeli leaders must be brought to justice

News from IRNA (w/BU snippets):

"Iran is mulling an international demand by the Organization of the Islamic Conference to the International Criminal Court to bring to dock the Israeli leaders for their crimes against humanity and war crimes in Gaza."

Mulling? Does IRNA mean they’re “mulling” when to demand what is always pre-prepared?

"ICC is the United Nations Court specialized in war crimes."

Defined for the “common” Iranian, that is none too familiar with this “tool” perhaps, at least its proper use (requires alternate universe that UN fits appropriately into; see fiction)

Yes sir, right after he is brought to justice for opening his mouth.

Hmmm, seems to be a lot of difficulty these days for people regarding national mottos.

However, in that vain the Iranian president and mullahs will nonetheless continue with their “logic of oppression and crime,” as it hasn’t failed for them yet.

International Forum of News Agencies Coalition for Peace

Two new links are now provided at the Islamic Republic News Agency; one links to the “AMIA Case,” the other is the “International Forum of News Agencies Coalition for Peace.”

Of the AMIA Case:

"Two Jewish centers in Argentine, including the buildings of Argentine-Israelite Mutual Association (AMIA) and Delegation of Israeli Argentine Associations (DAIA) were destroyed in a bomb explosion on July 18, 1994 leaving 85 people dead and more than 250 others injured."

The blame was placed at the feet of the Islamic Republic of Iran

Very long story short the explosion was a “pre-planned conspiracy by international Zionism and Argentine agents,” according to this very informative link from IRNA. Whether it's related to Israel or two skyscrapers in New York it is always a "conspiracy."

The attitude strikes one as not too peaceful, which does not share in the harmony inherent in the second link of note which is to the “International Forum of News Agencies Coalition for Peace” or IFNA. According to the site it is or they are:

“awaiting your kind cooperation in sending us news stories and articles related to “peace, conflict-resolutions and non-violence,” via email: ifna-cp@irna.com, to put up on the ifna site for a mutual exchange of views and ideas to help in finding true peace in the world.”

Very loving and peaceful and from the same news agency whose “about us” link does not beat around the bush. In brief (skipping over its establishment in 1934 and jumping forward):

"After the triumph of the Islamic Revolution in February 1979 the revolution's council, in June 1979, decided to rename the Ministry of Information and Tourism to the National Guidance Ministry (or Ministry of National Guidance). This was followed in December, 1981 bya bill passed by the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Majlis) changing the name of the country's official news agency from Pars News Agency to Islamic Republic News Agency."

Its guidelines (again very brief):

"The professional activities of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) are based on and aimed at securing the Islamic Republic of Iran's national interests. Efforts of management and professional personnel of IRNA are thus focused on achieving higher ground each day n fulfillment of its stated goal.

The organization functions as the "mother source of information dissemination" within the country, feeding its authorities, nationals and various publications with various types of news, bulletins, research works, opinion polls and stories of general interest through its various telex lines."

Number 1 on its list of guidelines is the “mass production and dissemination of news and informative material taking into account its main objective of promoting the interests and objectives of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

Someone with even an almost imperceptible head on their shoulders wouldn’t need to read any of this to realize it, but it’s interesting as it is the major source of information in Iran. So when, as Ahmadinejad did yesterday says:

“The US' failed plot at Columbia University has secured a big win for the Iranian nation in thwarting the US and Zionist conspiracies”

"The Zionists wanted to turn the event into a trial of the Isalmic Republic of Iran, but with help from the Almighty God, the plot turned into a scene in which nations could express their hatred with the rulers in the White House."

"The behavior of the government and media in the US shows that there is dictatorship in that country and people are not allowed to know the facts."

When Ahmadinejad speaks and their “news” agency prints, especially in the realm of “PEACEFUL NUKES,” more people should question what the truth really is.

Time to pack the family up and get ready for the fun and frivolity of International Qods Day (IQD) celebrations slated for October 5, 2007.

What is IQD?:

“International Qods Day reminds the world of the decades of Israeli oppression against an innocent and defenseless nation. The late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, designated the day. During this annual event both Muslims and non-Muslims in large numbers in many countries come out to renew their support for the Palestinians and their resistance against the cruel Israeli military occupation.”

In juxtaposition to the day, Israeli Foreign Minister and Vice Prime Minister Tzipi Livni while addressing the UN 62^nd General Assembly yesterday said:

"The foundation for true peace lies in the vision of two States, Israel and Palestine, living side by side in peace and security."

Of the threats of terror and extremism she said:

"Israel may be on the front lines of this battle" against terrorism, but it is not our fight alone. This is a global battle...today it is clear that the extremists are engaged in a bloody war against civilians and communities...in every corner of the world. And it is clear too, that the Middle East conflict is not a cause of this global extremist agenda, but a consequence of it."

"But for success to be genuine and lasting, you - the nations of the world - need to be partners in a shared global struggle against the extremism and terror that feed conflict, for your sake not just for ours."

Of Iran, a major force behind the International Qods Day, though her comments were not with regard to the day:

"No responsible state disagrees that Iran is the most prominent sponsor of terrorism...None disagrees that Iran denies the Holocaust and speaks openly of its desire to wipe a member state - mine - off the map...",

"Too many see the danger but walk idly by - hoping that someone else will take care of it. What is the value, we have to ask, of an organization which is unable to take effective action in the face of a direct assault on the very principles it was founded to protect? It is time for the United Nations, and the States of the world, to live up to their promise of never again."

Iranian leaders/groups remarks regarding International Qods Day

Majlis deputy from Tehran Saeed Abutaleb said of the day of unity:

“the world should break silence on the day and the Muslims are expected to chant slogans in support of Palestinians.”

Agreed, the world should break its silence and shove the truth down the throats of these instigators of death in Iran that have so much to do with keeping the terror in the region living and breathing.

Moussa Qorbani, member of the Majils presiding board while calling for “massive turnout” Friday said:

“According to history, the Palestinian territory belongs to the Palestinian nation.

In reaction to failures the Zionists suffered in the occupied territories, the occupying regime has exerted intensive pressure on innocent Palestinian people.

The World Bank said in a report that the economic sanctions Israel imposed on Palestinians in Gaza has made life drastically difficult.”

Damned Israelis, why won’t they give aid and comfort to the Hezzies that are now in charge in Gaza? Can you imagine how peaceful the world would be without them?

The World Forum for Proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thoughts (WFPIST or We’re F**kin’ Pissed) statement of unity:

"The international Qods Day is considered the day of emergence of the Islamic grandeur, Muslims' campaign against arrogant powers, symbol of Islamic solidarity and resistance by the oppressed, and unity among all justice-seeking and truth-lover human beings."

I’m guessing the “justice-seeking, truth-lover human beings” will in time find truth, but not until their propaganda and lies are effectively considered truth.

Palestinian Ambassador to Iran, Salah Zawawi talked to Iran Daily about this day of celebrations, rallies and protests last year. In describing US support of the Zionist Israelis…:

“The reason for this was not their love for the Jews, rather they wanted to get rid of the Jews and their evilness. The Americans have been pushing for their own interest in the Middle East, including oil and hegemony. The US wants to spread the seeds of discord among Arabs and Muslims and rule over them. It has a history of creating turmoil in Muslim countries and enmity among Sunnis and Shiites. The so-called new Middle East Initiative is in line with this policy.”

Iran leads the way in attempts at unifying Muslims and Muslim nations with the expectations that the final product will be under its leadership. Iran supports and is a terrorist state and is devoted to Islamification of the planet. Pipe dreams for sure, but anything is possible when we keep our eyes closed and ears plugged.

Organization of the Islamic Conference Allies in the War on Terror

It’s always a pleasure when Mark Steyn’s work at National Review is available to the general non-subscribing public because it is at that time that I feel the most comfortable quoting and linking to something he has written.

In the July 16^th issue of National Review and available at Steyn Online is “Denial is a river in Washington.” In it he takes the various Western nations governments to task in their overly obsessive PC etiquette in conducting the war on terror. Read it and enjoy, but I am posting from within his essay to the references he makes to the Organization of the Islamic Conference.

Western leaders, including most recently Jacqui Smith, the British Home Secretary under Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who was quoted as saying ‘“Any attempt to identify a murderous ideology with a great faith such as Islam is wrong, and needs to be denied.”’ This is in line with Brown’s disallowing the use of the word “Muslim” in any reference or connection with terrorism, as Steyn quoted from The Daily Express, “The shake-up is part of a fresh attempt to improve community relations and avoid offending Muslims.”

How we are expected to get anywhere in the war on terror is unknowable if we cannot in all seriousness use that which recent history is providing as example I do not know.

One of those groups that work to protect the Muslim identity is the Organization of the Islamic Conference; which in and of itself is very honorable and commendable. This honor is undeserved however when one of the conferences guidelines is to identify various terrorist entities as not terrorist due to their definition of the struggle.

Quoting Steyn with four quotes from the organizations 2002 “Declaration on International Terrorism;” the four that Steyn quotes are:

“5. We reject any attempt to link Islam and Muslims to terrorism as terrorism has no association with any religion, civilization or nationality;”

Fine. Whatever. Religion-of-peace boilerplate.

“10. We reject any attempt to link terrorism to the struggle of the Palestinian people in the exercise of their inalienable right to establish their independent state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital;”

Er, okay. That gives a pass to Hamas and the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade and whatnot…

“11. We reject any attempt to associate Islamic states or Palestinian and Lebanese resistance with terrorism, which constitutes an impediment to the global struggle against terrorism;”

…and that pretty much absolves Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad and everybody else. So are there any actual terrorists operating anywhere today that this “International Declaration” is designed to cover?

“12. We condemn Israel for its escalating…”

Why then do we and our leaders stoop and bow to this group and others like it (C.A.I.R. anyone) as though we have the same intended outcome? We certainly do not want to offend anyone and turn them off from assisting in wiping this current scourge from the earth; but if truth offends it is not the messengers fault.

We, nor can anyone else get to the root of any problem by ignoring the basis of the problem or those involved from the very beginning.

One point of interest that Steyn did not quote was the laughable connection to the U.N. when in regard to the groups currently involved in “national” struggles as opposed to “terrorism:”

“14. We reaffirm our commitment to international action in combating international terrorism undertaken in conformity with the principles of the Charter of United Nations, including the principles of non-intervention in internal affairs and respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as international law and relevant international conventions and instruments;”

Would the conference recognize this “charter” if it hadn’t at first identified that which it refuses to see as terrorist? No it would not since it would not fit within the “charter.”

The OIC is an organization that leadership looks to in the joint effort of combating terrorism, yet the OIC’s bottom line is combating the war on terror, leaving time and space to allow for the possibility of victory in behalf of terrorist organizations. This is very apparent when one reads the Declaration on International Terrorism; and in closing the offering of the conferences “Convention on Combating International Terrorism, which begins:

“Pursuant to the tenets of the tolerant Islamic Sharia which reject all forms of violence and terrorism, and in particular specially those based on extremism and call for protection of human rights, which provisions are paralleled by the principles and rules of international law founded on cooperation between peoples for the establishment of peace;”

In Rebuttal to Barack Obama’s Essay – “Renewing American Leadership” – Part I

Over the course of the roughly seven years of the Bush Administration it has been the public discourse of the Democrat party, Leftists and media of this nation to see and judge in each action; the wrong action. As is the case with any action taken, whether by a government leader or individual civilian, it is naturally followed by a reaction.

This is the nature of existence; even inaction generates a reaction. The President of the U.S. must make decisive action and once that action is taken, the reaction(s) will follow. Most leaders(?), will backtrack after the fact and say ‘well it was misinterpreted,’ or ‘that’s not what my vote meant,’ or ‘I was hornswaggled.’

Where the opposition gains is the myriad possibilities that may arise upon the taking of a certain action. Any number of observations or predictions is much easier to make once someone has done the difficult work of making it so. When an action takes place parts of the outcome are apparent, at least in that moment in time. Those in disagreement have all manner of direction(s) to choose from when attacking, as those are only words or theory, whereas the action is “real” and cannot be changed.

In this vein, I offer an analysis and reaction to Senator Barack Obama’s effort to define himself as a visionary in the realm of foreign affairs, as published in the pages of Foreign Affairs, July/August 2007 issue.

Following the gushing acknowledgment of three 20^th century Democrat presidents; FDR, Truman and Kennedy, Obama enters into the reality of a U.S. that must once again “provide visionary leadership.” Where the Bush Administration has moved forward with what could be described as “visionary” as they are actions unlike the previous tactics of the status quo and don’t rock the boat attitudes; yet Obama sees this as a “conventional” response to an “unconventional” attack:

“largely viewing problems as state-based and principally amenable to military solutions. It was this tragically misguided view that led us into a war in Iraq that never should have been authorized and never should have been waged. In the wake of Iraq and Abu Ghraib, the world has lost trust in our purposes and our principles.”

Obama believes we must not see our nation’s power as being in a “terminal decline” but to seize it anew. Admittedly it is far easier to see the pessimistic than the optimistic as it takes much less effort for the former; this however is exactly what the Left has done with each word spoken and each step taken by the U.S. when it has been offered by the present administration.

He speaks of being in the “wake of Iraq and Abu Ghraib,” because when offered the opportunity of giving his and their own nation the benefit of the doubt the Senator and the Left pounced upon their own homeland as the one with the evil intent as did much of the world media. How is that for optimism?

With his first day in office as president, Barack Obama promises to “renew American leadership in the world.” First by ending our efforts in Iraq soon and responsibly and then to set our sights on the greater Middle East, which was diverted from with our entry into Iraq.

Regardless of any good that has come from or does come from following our actions in Iraq, Obama must toe the line in painting the Iraq Theater as pointless. Doing so however, limits the seriousness with which one can take the candidates suggestion that “we should leave behind only a minimal over-the-horizon military force in the region to protect American personnel and facilities, continue training Iraqi security forces, and root out al Qaeda.” After all, this is what the U.S. is doing now, but with greater numbers than it is assumed a President Obama would envision that he has awaiting his orders just “over the horizon.” This statement also belies and reveals that there are in fact terrorists, including al Qaeda in Iraq and that not having apprehended Osama bin Laden was a dropping of the ball. Bin Laden is another needle in the haystack, which the opposition can easily conclude and state would be in custody this very day, were they in charge. No way to prove it, yet no way to disprove it either; how convenient.

Clearing up the Bush created “morass in Iraq” would free the U.S. up so that it can re-enter the Israeli-Palestinian problem in the Middle East; this “a task that the Bush administration neglected for years.”

As candidate Obama sees it, those in the Middle East and “the rest of the world have looked to America to lead the effort to build the road to a lasting peace.” I would hope however, that one would be forgiven the snicker that arises with this “idyllic” revision of the recent past. One might agree that many in the world have looked to the U.S. to stick its nose in so that others could then bad mouth the U.S. as a puppet of the Zionist regime or just a partner in the continuing failure to bring peace to a region that has done as much or little as possible to actually assist. There is also the issue of those actors that wish for and work toward the obliteration of Israel; which just so happens to include those a President Obama would apply his “(T)ough-minded diplomacy, backed by the whole range of instruments of American power -- political, economic, and military,” to.

The commitment as offered by Barack will be to address the growing threats in the region consisting of “a strengthened Iran, a chaotic Iraq, the resurgence of al Qaeda, the reinvigoration of Hamas and Hezbollah.” A commitment that sounds strangely similar to the present albeit minus the “Bush,” a commitment that sounds strangely like pre 9/11, a commitment that will require the assistance of ‘allies,’ that didn’t so much dislike the Bush Administration but had very different views and economic interests.

Oh Dear....Hamas Mickey Killed by Israeli - the Fairy Tale Continues

Hamas TV Mickey Mouse beaten to death by Israeli - becomes Martyr in final episode

The Hamas satellite TV channel has responded to the international controversy over its hatred-spouting Mickey Mouse clone by having the character beaten to death by an Israeli and becoming a Shahid, martyr for Allah.

Al-Aqsa TV broadcast Friday the final episode of the children’s program Tomorrow’s Pioneers, starring Farfur, the Mickey Mouse lookalike whose teachings about world Islamic domination, violence and hatred outraged the world after PMW made them public in May.

Without apparent regard for the sensitivities of their child viewers, the show’s creators killed off the character in a particularly violent way that allowed them to continue the show’s rabidly anti-Israel messages.

In this last episode, the squeaky-voiced Farfur receives land documents from his grandfather. The episode ends when an Israeli investigator tries to force Farfur to give up the key and the papers that his grandfather had given him. When Farfur refuses, the Israeli continues his brutal attack and beats Farfur to death.

Although Farfur’s death is not shown to the child viewers, the hostess of the show, Saraa’, sadly announces his death to the children:

“Yes, our children friends, we lost our dearest friend, Farfur. Farfur turned to a Martyr while protecting his land. He turned into a Martyr at the hands of the criminals, and murderers, the murderers of the innocent children."

PMW reported the existence of the Mickey Mouse knockoff and his hateful messages in May, prompting worldwide outrage. The New York Daily News dubbed the character “Terror Mouse,” while Walt Disney’s daughter Diane described it as “pure evil.”

Despite promises by the PA that the show would be suspended immediately, it remained on the air for another week, and was then suspended during the violence in Gaza. This final episode, which includes the killing of Farfur by Israel, enabled Hamas to remove the program while continuing its hate messages.

Shaimaa’ : “They killed Farfur!”
Saraa’ : “That’s right, oh Shaimaa’. The Jews are criminals and enemies, we must expel them from our land.”

Friday Sermon from Iran; Iran Ready to Talk

This Friday Sermon from Iran is much shorter than usual; the reasoning for this is twofold. One, you can click the link and read the ludicrousness for yourselves and two, who cares; it’s the same garbage spouted 24/7 from Tehran.

Of the most interest is the warning and imparting of wisdom from Provisional Friday Prayer Leader of Tehran Hojjatoleslam Ahmad Khatami when he said:

“Passing a chain of resolutions against Iran is not going to solve any problem. The only solution to that problem is through negotiations, since logical and rational talks always yield fruit."

Ah, yes the “logical and rational” mind of the mullahs, leadership of the tehrrorists of Tehran. Note that resolutions is not the answer as they will get you nothing, oddly though the only yield from “talks” is more time for Iran to continue with its peaceful nuclear development.

In order to grasp rational logic one must accept that neither option bears any fruit, just like Iran bears no peace only the offer misery.

The peaceful pastor also gave warning to the U.S.’ President in reaction to his saying all options, including military are on the table with:

"The US president had also better know that the Iranian nation, too, has all options, including a big fist on the mouth, on the table for countering America severely."

Wonderful, peace be unto you but consider that while all you can muster is a “big fist on the mouth,” the U.S. could and should cut off Tehran’s communications, what little oil production and refining capacity it has, all electrical and anything else of the paltry offerings of a positive nature the Islamic Republic allows from within its borders. One on the U.S. side could say, remember how Saddam and his punks were cut-off and down? From Tehran the expected response might be, yes and look at how you have been mired in Iraq and elsewhere? At this point in these talks it might be fun to point out much like Iraq Iran would be once it has been turned upside down worse than it. Tehran could then enjoy its own quagmire within its own borders as it attempts to continue all its Middle Eastern proxies.

The situation being tough for the U.S. does not mean it would be easy for Iran; although the media wouldn’t portray it accurately like that though.

Watch your mouth and what you wish for little man. As much of a pushover the U.S. can be civility-wise, you might push just a wee bit too much sometime soon. You could then moan and whine about how much it is the U.S.’ fault, but you will know better.

On the bright side however, Secretary of Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali “Larry” Larijani said:

“Iran is ready for talks as a means for return of peace and tranquility to the region.”

Again it is very interesting and revealing that Iran is always ready to talk and repeats this as often is humanly possible; all the better to point later to the fact that Iran said, ‘it’s ready to talk.” The only problem with this is talk is what diplomats love as that’s what they’re paid to do and Iran knows the talk codeword will make those same diplomats fall all over themselves; thereby giving Iran oddly more time to continue with its peaceful nuclear development.

Iran wishes to talk overtly, whilst it sews murder, destruction and mayhem on civilians in the region of the world they claimed to be the purveyors of peace for. Lebanon, Palestine, Israel, Iraq, Afghanistan, Hamas, Hezbollah and all the rest of the covert peaceful initiates that Iran embarks on.

By all means, talk that way Iran can continue its course of action. Eventually there may be peace once enough people have been killed and all submit to Iran and its dreams of Islamic hegemony over the entire planet.

Escape and Evade or Making War to Keep Peace

An essay by Karen Hanretty at NRO this morning argues that “John Edwards is not your father’s antiwar candidate.” In an aside, John Edwards would not be my “father’s antiwar candidate;” where else would you think I get my bloodlust for bumper sticker wars?

I would like to take Hanrettys point and apply it to the entirety of the antiwar Left and antiwar Dems in general.

Edwards like others of his mindset just don’t seem to get it or else they willingly ignore it in an effort to paint the issue as Bush or “Bush’s War” as though it would or will go away once that warmonger is out of office. The candidates speak of ‘I would talk with our allies (what’s left of them after the buffoonery and hardheadedness of Bush) and bring the U.S. back to the respectable place we were before;’ a kind of 9/10 I guess as that is the only place one could go back to, although you can’t go back there either.

The Left (fringe, Edwards, Dems) has argued in the past for pulling out of Iraq as though that is the end all necessity to the end of our troubles in Iraq and between us and Iran. Yet where would they pull out to? I’ve made mention previously that the “where to” is in a little known place called “Betwixt” but that’s another story. The suggestion has been to have a quick reactionary force somewhere else, but there really is no quicker reaction possible to someone not in country.

According to Hanretty, in a speech to the Council on Foreign Relations recently Edwards suggested this recipe:

'“My plan calls on Congress to use its funding power to stop the surge and force an immediate withdrawal of 40,000 to 50,000 combat troops from Iraq, followed by an orderly and complete withdrawal of all combat troops in about a year.”'

To combat those that would do us the Iraqis harm, Edwards adds that we would:

'“retain sufficient forces in the region to prevent a genocide, deter a regional spillover of the civil war, and prevent an al Qaeda safe haven”'

Oddly in response to this, Hanretty points out the obvious to most that “isn’t that what our troops are having difficulty doing already, even as President George W. Bush implements his “surge” strategy?” Sounds about right to me, but then again I’m paying attention and not interested in ignoring all the realities I don’t like.

The obvious to me and the reasoning for having considered “betwixt” is for the reason that if we are so despised in the region and our being there offends so many; one of whom (the cave dweller that is bin Laden) has said we don’t belong anywhere in the region; why would a continuation of our presence be in anyone’s interest?

The reason is because we need to be there. As part of the title of this post entails, sometimes war is necessary for peace. Peace does not always just come about and peace is often the norm where diplomacy is involved, but diplomacy too often calls for the status quo and the allowance of certain ills in order to maintain that “peace.” It’s more of a relative peace. Gaza is a mess now and Israel left it with an interest in peace; well where’s the peace? It is also the case that nations that are not actually involved there are blamed for it just the same.

The belligerents or troublemakers are not going to go away; they will likely be invigorated as even when they lose they claim victory, however with the departure of the U.S. in Iraq for example they would have a victory and a big one at that. Iran, the Sunni insurgents and al Qaeda would have a relatively and nicely placed location from which to sow more discord and further disrupt any possibilities toward something more Democratic or peaceful.

Once out of Iraq we would sit and wait for a direct hit on us or an accumulation of takeovers and difficulties that would require action well after the time that would have been more productive. We would need to enter after further entrenchment of radicals; the very radicals that threaten any kind of peaceful cohabitation or coexistence now.

Karen Hanretty points to the posthumously published Jeanne Kirkpatrick book, “Making War to Keep Peace,” and uses it for the benefit of a historical case in point; Afghanistan.

In the section of the book that covers the U.S. involvement with Afghan resistance forces, the Soviet Union was utterly defeated; from the book:

“The conflict was done, and it seemed appropriate to leave, so we did. Talks of maintaining a U.S. presence, of extending an occupation, or even of nation building were not seriously contemplated.”

“Not long after the U.S. personnel left, fighting spread among the various warlords, ethnic groups, and factions in Afghanistan. The wars among these warlords and ethnic groups were bitter, characterized by personal violence among families, clans and groups. The long struggles further fractured an already fragile society, until the Taliban emerged as the strongest and most violent. Dogmatic and harsh, the intolerant Taliban moved ruthlessly to eliminate opponents and consolidate power. Their near-universal repression was far more onerous than anyone foresaw.”

There are certainly no guarantees that had we remained in Afghanistan in some fashion that wouldn’t have ultimately generated some forces that would wish to do harm to the fledgling nation, nor to us. But with hindsight we should not dismiss it out of hand or for electoral purposes just because it doesn’t fit or wouldn’t look good.

In order to maintain peace, a real peace, sometimes it is necessary to fight for it knowingly and willingly you may have to fight for it and defend it more often than you would care for; but it just might be of necessity. We have seen in the past what giving in for the sake of peace has wrought, perhaps not immediately, but often down the road when least expected. The defense of peace is often done via offensive means otherwise you’re just waiting to be hit and what good is a defense that allows one to be hit. Peace throughout history has often been fought for, maybe not immediately but eventually. Once those that insist on creating war have forced it upon us we jump in and do what we can; often successfully.

We’re slowly being backed into a corner and I see no reason to get all the way to that corner before striking back, as at some time we may reach a point that we can not fight back from.
