Iraq and Iran; Not Separate Issues, Pieces of the Same Puzzle

From the point of view of most Democrats in Washington and of course those in agreement, Iraq is an entirely elective “war;” one that we can simply elect to “end.” Where this logic comes from is beyond most of us that support our efforts in Iraq and also consider one front in many in the greater war on terror.

If the surge is allowed to continue and with that continuation, tactics deployed are of the stripe of those being used now (let’s also include continued adjustment, which is always necessary in the realities of battle) things could slowly improve on the ground as they have been. With the confidence of support from the home front and positive results in the various provinces in Iraq, we could begin to see the political improvements that are thus far, wanting by so many.

Setting those successes aside though is necessary to address what is sorely lacking in Washington and that is a policy about what to do regarding Iran. Iran is not just in negotiations with Dr. El Baradei and his IAEA; Iran is part and parcel of the difficulties we face in Iraq. While El Baradei and other invested diplomats ply their chosen trade, which in my opinion is a lot of considering the wrong goals the means to success, Iran continues apace with its infiltration into the daily battles and life in Iraq (set aside the larger picture in the region that include Lebanon, Israel, Palestine through the IRGC, Hamas and Hezbollah).

Iran intends to continue to train Sunni, Shia, al Qaeda fighters through its proxy, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps; while supplying the financing and weapons through the IRGC that are necessary for the brass ring the Mullahs so covet; driving the U.S. out of Iraq.

Administrations of the past 30 years have pussyfooted around Tehran, backing down most times and/or giving them what they want with the expectation of their coming to see the light like any other normal nation. Iran has no geo-political strategy; it is a religious strategy in preparation for the return of the 12^th Imam. Iran is sewing destruction in Iraq and elsewhere to inhibit any nascent Democracy in the region; they seek peace for the Iraqi people, but peace to the Mullahcracy for the Iraqis is an absence of the U.S.; which resembles peace in Iran…ironfisted and deadly.

This is not some call for attacking Iran, although as many “hawks” have said these military options should not be off the table. The Department of State, many in the CIA and others need to face the reality that 30 years of nothing out of Iran is forthcoming; the tactics of diplomacy is not the answer…revolution from the bottom is a necessity and time is of the essence.

If we just consider Iraq the issue, which is thinking inside the box there is a lot to be said for sticking in out and the perseverance the president has called for; this is not four years of the same tactic as detractors mendaciously claim, but sticking with it to get it right as so much is riding on it.

“While not all the battles of this war will be exactly like Iraq, the bitter experience of the last four years should serve as a reminder that we must adapt to the war as it is rather than pretend we have the option of fighting a war we would prefer. Nor should we pretend that there's something more important for U.S. ground troops to do. If they are ordered to retreat from this battle, their next battle is likely to be a lot harder.”

Friday Sermon from Iran

Provisional Friday Prayer Leader of Tehran Ayatollah Seyyed Ahmad Khatami led the congregation with his usual flair and aplomb; speaking of the recent televised confessions of American-Iranian “spies”:

‘"This policy has worked in some countries, but in Iran, it has faced defeat, just like the other failed US policies on Iran."’

Khatami’s statement fits perfectly in line with the propaganda of the regime and mullahs, which is according to Amir Taheri in today’s NY Post, “The Conspiracy That Wasn’t.” The use of these hostages is for the fodder they can make of them and the United States and msm should be screaming up a storm about it.

The use of the propaganda unfolds to include statements such as:

‘"During the past fifty years the United States has directly or indirectly interfered in the internal affairs of 25 countries of the world militarily, and the funny thing is that Washington also claims it is after the establishment of democracy throughout the world."’

Khatami, member in good standing of the Leadership Experts Assembly also highlighted Iran's role in preserving stability and security in the Middle East region, and added:

"Iran's policies regarding Iraq have always been aimed at promoting security measures there and serving the oppressed Iraqi nation, and yet the United States has always, resorting to fake pretexts, been accusing Iran of interference in Iraq's affairs."

“The US policy in Iraq today is aimed at bringing the Ba'th Party back to power, and fueling the flames of tribal and sectarian wars there."

This, as well as every Friday Sermon would be very amusing were it not so alarming – These are the people we would negotiate away from their “peaceful nukes?”

Oddly, on that very subject a joint communiqué stated that:

“Iran's nuclear issue should be solved through dimplomatic channels and negotiations with no strings attached.”

It also stressed and warned of the “danger of the Zionist regime’s nuclear arsenal for the region and called for immediate action by international bodies to foil this threat.”

Condemning “the continued aggressive and oppressive acts of the Zionist regime” it also “underscored the rights of the Syrian people to restore occupied Golan Heights up to the June 1967 borderline.”

Obviously the various “injustices” are part of the pathetic nature of the backward region, where defeat followed by their attacks and instigation are used as pity party talking points. Unfortunately, the pity parties consist of continued death and mayhem.

Futher proof the “peaceful” intentions were underlined in the statement with:

“Iran and Syria in their joint statement invited the Palestinian groups to dialogue and keeping national unity and supported the rights of the Palestinian nation for the return of the refugees to their motherland and establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Ghods city designated as its capital.”

Additional proofs of “peaceful” intentions were noted earlier this week with the following news:

an adviser to the Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei, claimed Iranian ownership of the Gulf Arab state of Bahrain stating:

"The public demand in Bahrain is the reunification of this province with its motherland, the Islamic Iran."

As well is the announcement of the inclusion of Syria under the Iranian missile umbrella aimed at 600 targets in Israel threatened as retaliation if Iran is attacked.

These are the people we would negotiate away from their “peaceful nukes?” Nice

Let's Not Forget Other Costs in the Recent Democrat Off-Broadway Production

While the sleepover took place and the theatrics were going full bore sans fireworks, while the Democrats or Reid’s Rosies moaned of the “distraction” that Iraq is from “real” terror the world continues to spin.

Iran and it’s proxies in Iraq and elsewhere in the region have been all but forgotten. This is one of those subjects of debate the media aids and abets the Democrat party as it tries to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes. There are so many pieces to this war on terror that regardless of size need to be addressed; Pakistan, Afghanistan, Israel, Syria, Lebanon and elsewhere. It all continues apace.

The Rosies apply the makeup, have their jammies pressed, teeth brushed and put on their latest off-Broadway hit; who says sequels can’t draw in the crowds.

“Negotiations” with the IAEA continue with Iran as the lead in the show recites his practiced lines. Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini discusses efforts to avoid a third resolution against Iran, while stating what “appeared to refer to an agreement reached last week between Iran and the UN's nuclear watchdog for a new negotiations framework,” which the UN hailed recently.

This “new negotiations framework” stems from June 25 when Iran “invited an International Atomic Energy Agency team to Tehran to work on clearing up suspicions about its nuclear program, an IAEA spokeswoman said Monday.” Excitedly hailed at the time as forward momentum in the quest to cease the Islamic Republics nuclear ambitions by the UN, Iran and MSM, we are only now seeing that it is part and parcel in the stretching out of negotiations to allow Iran to achieve its ends during the farce of “negotiations.” After all Iran, “‘invited the IAEA to send a team to Tehran to develop an action plan for resolving outstanding issues related to Iran's past nuclear program,'” which is only a promise to continue the same.

Reid and the Rosies rant while Hussain Shariatmadari, an adviser to the Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei, claimed Iranian ownership of the Gulf Arab state of Bahrain stating:

"The public demand in Bahrain is the reunification of this province with its motherland, the Islamic Iran."

The statement made sometime around July 13^th has not been “formally disavowed” by Tehran, which adds further insult to injury to those that continue to believe that Iranian proxies in Iraq are not participating under the orders of the government in Tehran and the Mullahcracy. To Shariatmadari, “it goes without saying that such an indisputable right for Iran and the people of this province should not and cannot be overlooked.”

Does this speak kindly to the “peaceful” use of nuclear technology? How about the fact that “Iran has marked 600 targets in Israel for missile strikes if it is attacked, the Qatari newspaper Al Watan quoted Sunday diplomatic sources in Damascus as saying. The report said the targets are within reach of Iranian missiles and would be completely destroyed if Israel should attack Iran or participate in an American attack on it.” This threat also includes attacks against Syria within its protective umbrella.

This is not the “peace” we think of, but “peace” has a very wide ranging definition when practiced by the likes of the Iranian regime.

During the Cold War peace between the major powers was maintained via proxy and the promise of mutual assured destruction. Today and over the past 30 years this has been the practice of Tehran with an almost light speed increase in these efforts recently. Assuming history will repeat itself to the tee that some feel it has or does, i.e. Iraq is Vietnam; dangerously disregards the danger inherent in a new Cold War, this one with an nuclear armed enemy that reveres martyrdom in death.

So, to Reid and the Rosies, the UN, and the MSM thanks for making the assured destruction of many a possibility with your lack of seriousness in these grave issues.

Lugar and the New Highway of Death

According to the NY Times:

"After offering a bleak assessment of the Bush administration’s strategy in Iraq, Senator Richard G. Lugar of Indiana, the ranking Republican on the Foreign Relations Committee, said today that he was urging lawmakers and President Bush to change course quickly to protect a further erosion of America’s standing in the world."

Forget about all the details no one seems to want to deal with, like what exactly leaving Iraq means, Frank Gaffney had an interesting essay this morning at NRO.

"It has become fashionable for politicians of both parties — mostly Democrats, but a few Republicans, as well — to promise the rapid removal of U.S. forces from Iraq. In fact, a sort of bidding war has broken out with would-be presidential candidates outdoing each other to come up with ever-shorter timelines for the abandonment of our positions there."

Democratic presidential candidate and New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson: “I would withdraw all of our forces, without any residual troops, by the end of this calendar year.”

Democratic presidential candidate and former North Carolina Senator John Edwards: “I would continue to draw combat troops out of Iraq over the course of about the next 10 months.”

Democratic presidential candidate and New York Senator Hillary Clinton, speaking on the recently defeated Iraq withdrawal bill: “I support the underlying bill [to cut off funding after March 2008]…This is consistent with what I’ve been saying for several years.”

Republican presidential candidate and Texas Congressman Ron Paul: “I’d come home. I’d just get out of there.”

Let's face it, no one is really going to continue to give this subject enough thought to do the right thing. Suggesting politicians get a clue to consider the result of acting on their rhetoric is like asking them to not take themselves too seriously.

We will one day soon leave Iraq and that day will be too soon. We will spend the next decades paying for that shortsighted decision with more battlegrounds around the planet. In perhaps what is the first time this nation took a pro-active stance or entered into battle early in a preemptive manner so as to address an issue head on; we will fall back and write off all those that have sacrificed to the point at which we do leave.

We will do this; the time is coming. We will have to go back too, but the circumstances and the battlefields will be that much more difficult to enter into. They will be in the deserts, in the cities of Europe and the U.S. and elsewhere. It will be an ugly inferno and I told you so will have no meaning or satisfaction.

Iran Strategy being Debated at White House

A year later, after beginning a new push for diplomatic negotiations with Iran along European lines debate is opening up within the Bush Administration as to whether this new tact is working.

The NY Times article pits the debate as being between Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and her department “against the few remaining hawks inside the administration, especially those in Vice President Dick Cheney’s office who, according to some people familiar with the discussions, are pressing for greater consideration of military strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities.”

In the year gone by the U.S. joined “forces” with the EU-3 along with Russia and China and Iran’s enrichment program has continued apace. In all fairness to the “hawks” “pressing for greater (italics mine) consideration of military strikes,” one has to seriously include the three prior years of the negotiations of the EU-3 and Iran. Just because the U.S. openly signed up does not mean negotiations have only been ongoing for one year.

Are negotiations going nowhere with no chance of success? Nothing is impossible, but those that have been involved appear to want it to be a continuous process without actually trying anything else. Iran’s intransigence remains as its influence in the region increases.

People have been moaning for the president to change direction/strategy etc. in Iraq since day one; yet Iran and its looming nuclear capacity gets scant attention that could be considered realistic. Why is that? Likely it is due to the fact that it doesn’t feel real until it is as in Iraq.

Considering there is no likelihood of turning Iran back due in great part to its intentions not to, wouldn’t it be prudent to seriously consider putting military strikes on the table?

The Middle East has been a flash point for quite some time now and it is not about to cool down anytime soon; it likely will not until the flames and smoke that will shortly engulf it clear up. We are in a relative time of peace in that region comparative to what it is on the way to becoming. If we cannot make the tough calls now we will without doubt be forced to make them later. To think otherwise is unrealistic and naïve.

Incendiary Rhetoric toward Iran

Finally found the transcript to Hannity & Colmes interview with John Bolton regarding Gaza, Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran from last night (6/14/07). What do you know, I pop over to RealClear every day, except this morning and there it is.

By all means read the entire transcript if you didn’t see the segment. I found one particular line of questioning from Alan Colmes that I found disturbing; if for nothing else, then for its naiveté:

COLMES: If you're Iran, and you hear this incendiary rhetoric toward Iran from certain people in the United States about how we have to take military action, what would you do if you're Iran?

BOLTON: Well, I wish they worried that much about me anymore, but I don't think that's really what motivates...

COLMES: But you're not the only one saying this. Does Iran respond to this incendiary rhetoric?

A lot of crosstalk when running short of time, but one last question/remark from Colmes;

COLMES: But they're going to feel they've got to defend themselves if they think an attack is imminent and people...

Cart before the horse; egg before the chicken; ultimately where does it begin and end? When someone in Colmes position seriously asks a question of this nature; calling statements from some in the U.S. “incendiary rhetoric toward Iran…” one truly should wonder if the person pays any attention to anything other than his own thoughts.

When the shrine in Samarra was again attacked by the enemies of a human race in Iraq the other day, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei blamed it on the “occupiers and Zionists.” Additionally:

‘”The disgraceful and blind-hearted agents behind this big crime, whether they are remaining stooges of Saddam's Baathist regime or the beguiled Wahhabi and Salafi fanatics, it cannot be doubted that the intelligence services of the occupiers and Zionists are the main masterminds of these heinous schemes.”’

‘”The occupiers have left the scene open to terrorists and panic-mongers to weaken the bases of the popular government of Iraq and justify their illegitimate presence in that country and are causing discord among Muslim brethren.”’

‘”Muslims throughout the world should be vigilant of the discord-sowing and war-mongering policies of enemies of Islam. Today, enemies will fan the flames of discord in Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon and any corner of the world of Islam that they can and instigate Muslims on various religious, partisan and ethnic pretexts to stand against each other and commit fratricide.”’

I’m curious how Mr. Colmes and those that agree with him feel about remarks like these? Are they not incendiary remarks? Are they not daily coming from Tehran’s leadership political and religious? Statements like these and much worse come from the pages of IRNA.com daily in the English translation they offer? Are they worse in Persian and Arabic?

We in the U.S. and West are supposed to take it easy and not ruffle any feathers in any way, shape or form and for all intents and purposes we really have not approached Iran and the issues that arise through its incitements with much more than what those, like Colmes have asked for or expect. This he would likely describe as too aggressive.

Four years now; we have been in negotiations with Iran. They continuously make overtures of interest in speaking, but will not bend on anything. EU-3 and all the rest has failed or failing; 15 victims of a misunderstanding, dual citizens taken hostage and on the list continues.

Alan Colmes and others are concerned about “incendiary remarks,” because they like talking and these “remarks,” make talking difficult. Iran has been talking with actions covert and overt, yet this somehow doesn’t fit into Colmes world view; why is that?

What do he and they really think they are going to get for their troubles?

Iran-Backed Terrorists in Gaza Exploit Press Neutrality

If your claims are legitimate, why use illegitimate means? If with your violent actions the world turns a blind eye, why use illegitimate means? If you use illegitimate means, the world turns a blind eye and your true aim is the annihilation of Israel; keep it up. No two state solution will ever satisfy the bloodthirsty ignorance of those intent on the destruction of Israel

On June 9, the Iranian-backed terrorist organization Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and Fatah Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, a radical offshoot of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah party, used a vehicle labeled "TV" to try to kidnap Israel Defense Force (IDF) soldiers. [1]

The Israel Project condemns PIJ's use of a vehicle disguised as a TV van to perpetrate terrorist attacks against the IDF across the Gaza border. This contravenes international conventions relating to the neutrality of the press. It also jeopardizes foreign journalists' ability to perform their work in a fair and -- more importantly -- safe manner.

The attack against Israeli forces took place at Kissufim Crossing, a Gaza border throughway located just north of Kerem Shalom Crossing, where Cpl. Gilad Shalit was kidnapped nearly one year ago. Cpl. Shalit was taken hostage on June 25, 2006 by Hamas' military wing Izzedeen al-Qassam Brigades, together with the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC) and the Army of Islam - the group currently holding journalist Alan Johnston - while stationed near the Kerem Shalom border crossing between Israel and the Gaza Strip. [2]

Palestinian Islamic Jihad spokesman Abu Ahmed claimed that the terrorist attack was thoroughly planned out beforehand, hailing the assault a "superior" and intricate suicide mission. [3]

The attempted kidnapping was just the latest in a long and deadly series of attacks perpetrated by Iran-backed terrorists and Palestinian militants, who continuously exploit and sometimes harm the press in Gaza. [See List Below]

The Board of the Foreign Press Association (FPA) released a statement on June 9 stating that " Armoured vehicles marked with TV are an invaluable protection for genuine journalists working in hostile environments...Today's abuse of this recognised protection for the working journalist is a grave development and we condemn those that carried it out." [4]

Palestinian Islamic Jihad's gross exploitation of press symbols caused the Palestinian Journalist Syndicate, the only journalists' union for the West Bank and Gaza, also to react. [5]

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said on June 10 at the weekly Knesset (Parliament) meeting that PIJ attempted "to take advantage of the special sensitivity that we have in a democratic country, such as ours, to the right of the media to operate freely and independently in security-sensitive areas." [6]

Press Personnel Kidnapped by Palestinian Militants in Gaza since Sept. 2004:

March 12, 2007 - BBC correspondent Alan Johnston is kidnapped by a mafia-like Gaza-based clan calling itself the Army of Islam. This group is thought to have ties to al-Qaeda. Johnston's captors released a video on the Internet demanding that Britain release several Muslim prisoners including Islamist al-Qaeda cleric Abu Qatada, who is one of Britain's most wanted men. [7]

Jan. 7, 2007 - Jaime Razuri from Agence France-Presse is kidnapped and released almost a week later. The kidnappers have not been identified. [8]

Oct. 23, 2006 - Emilio Morenatti, an Associated Press photographer, is kidnapped by unidentified Palestinian gunmen and released on the same day. [9]

Aug. 27, 2006 - Fox News correspondent Steve Centanni and New Zealand-born cameraman Olaf Wiig are held for two weeks by a previously unknown group identified as the Holy Jihad Brigades. They were released unharmed after being forced to convert to Islam. [10]

March 15, 2006 - Caroline Laurent, reporter for the French-language weekly ELLE; Alfred Yaghobzadeh, photographer for France's Sipa Press; and Yong Tae-Young, a correspondent for South Korea's KBS are kidnapped from the Al-Dira Hotel in Gaza. Palestinian Security Services claim the kidnappers are members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). The abducted journalists were released within 22 hours. [11]

Oct. 12, 2005 - Dion Nissenbaum and Adam Pletts of Knight Ridder (now McClatchy Newspapers) are abducted by renegade members of the Fatah party. The journalists were freed later that day. [12]

Sept. 10, 2005 - Journalist Lorenzo Cremonesi of Corriere della Serra (Italy) is abducted in the town of Deir el-Balah in the central Gaza Strip. He was released the same day. [13]

Aug.15, 2005 - Journalist Mohammad Ouathi, a French citizen of Algerian origin is kidnapped and released a week later. No group claimed responsibility. [14]

Jan. 8, 2005 - Ramon Lobo and Carmen Secanella, reporters for Spain's El Pais, are kidnapped briefly by Palestinian militants in Gaza's Khan Younes refugee camp. [15]

Sept. 27, 2004 - Riad Ali, producer for CNN is abducted at gunpoint and released the following day. Ali claims that the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades was behind his kidnapping but the militia has denied the allegations. [16]

Friday Sermon from Iran: Demise, Nuclear Peace and Israel

Speaking in an encore presentation to last Fridays Sermon from Iran, Provisional Friday Prayer Leader of Tehran Ayatollah Mohammad Emami Kashani said the direction of the nation under the leadership of the Supreme Leader is keeping within the guidelines as expressed by the late Imam Rouhollah oussavi Khomeini.

During the Friday Sermon, one of an seemingly endless parade of ceremonies marking the “18^th Demise Anniversary of Khomeini;” he said:

“in revival of Mohamedan Islam in the world, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution is emphasizing on the need to abide by the authentic version of Islam, particularly the teaching of the glorious Quran and the Tradition of the Holy Prophet of Islam in a bid to strengthen the foundations of Islamic unity."

This is the continuing refrain these days, which refers to Iran as the leader in unifying all of Islam in the world. The Friday Prayer leader also spoke of the U.S’ intent regarding Iranian nuclear capabilities is “against Islam and its present day Umm-ul-Qura (motherland).”

The issue of the missile shield that has Russia’s Putin in a tizzy was addressed and in the words of Kashani; ‘"The Americans' real intention is military arrangement against the Russians and the Chinese."’

The effort to stoke further difficulties between the U.S., Russia and China in this blogs mind is further proof of the lies behind the peace the Tehran tehrrorists always talk about.

NUKES FOR PEACE

One should wonder when the Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel speaks out saying:

‘"Due to silence of international circles and support of certain foreign powers during years of occupation, the Zionist regime has adopted measures to change population structure of the city of divine religions and cradle of peace.”’

‘"It has resorted to racism and expansionist policies including expulsion of Palestinian people and construction of Jewish settlements and the separation wall. The regime has posed serious danger to everyday life of the Palestinians.”’

With these charges “he called on his Islamic counterparts to take a coordinated and serious measure in this regard.” An end to the occupation of the holy land must take place.

NUCLEAR NEGOTIATIONS

Upon arrival at Tehran Mehrabad International Airport, Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Secretary Ali Larijani spoke to reporters of the “precise steps” that need to be taken to “prevent adoption of a new resolution” by the UN Security Council.

Terming his recent negotiations with the EU as “acceptable,” adding ‘"we had numerous issues with the agency which were settled gradually. Minor issues still remain.”’

Obviously minor issues can be thorns to those that don’t wish to give, but only get what they want. In the words of Larijani:

‘"These minor issues have remained because of the IAEA's political behavior. In fact, the agency has discredited itself by sending Iran's nuclear dossier to the UN Security Council."’

So one of the “minor issues” is the IAEA doing its job, if only begrudgingly. The twists of the Iranian “logic” continue to amaze and should continue as an obvious danger to those that wish to pay it a little notice.

In the Service of Global Peace and Security – Iran has Your Back

In a news conference with foreign news entities during the 18^th anniversary celebrations of the “departure of Imam Khomeini,” president of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ahmadinejad said:

“Iran serves international peace and security,” and that ‘"big powers want to retain their monopoly over the nuclear energy and in order to achieve the goal, they sow discord and differences among the developing nations.”’

Asked by an Indian reporter about US claims of Iranian involvement in Iraq, the good leader responded in proper Leftist form (which requires dropping various details and facts):

‘"The US, equipped and supported Saddam Hussein, former Iraqi dictator, during his imposed war on Iran and Kuwait, has occupied Iraq under the pretext of WMD and creating democracy in the country."’ He added that no WMDs were found and aiming to interfere in regional issues, the U.S. remains in Iraq.

Just to help the Iraqi people, Iran “expressed readiness to establish security in the country,” when “the occupiers raised the plan of negotiation when they were unable to create security, peace and tranquility.”

Further example of Iranian interests in security, peace and tranquility in the region the president spoke of the Zionist regimes and his warning to that nation missing from various Middle Eastern states maps:

‘"In my statement I gave a warning to the Zionist regime not to repeat the crimes it perpetrated in Lebanon last year."’ Continuing that if the enemy does not refrain from its attempts at sowing discord among Muslim nations; ‘"If they are not after strengthening friendship with regional nations and prefer to continue their crimes, the nations will eliminate their presence in the region."’

This ‘elimination’ one must presume is with the assistance of Iranian peaceful nukes since he did also reaffirm that Iran has a strategy of “non-interference in Lebanese national affairs and called for unity and success by Lebanese.”

Evidence of this non-interference was offered on March 5 of this year by Israel’s Shin Bet Intelligence Service Director Yuval Diskin in an interview with reporters:

‘“Hamas has started to dispatch people to Iran, tens and a promise of hundreds…"’ [1]Cooperation between Iran and Hamas dates back to the early 1990s, but their relationship strengthened significantly after Hamas was elected to lead the Palestinian Authority (P.A.) in January 2006.

Additionally from The Israel Project:

“On March 6, Hamas' Damascus-based political chief, Khaled Mashaal was in Tehran to discuss financial support for the Hamas-Fatah unity government and the current international monetary embargo on the P.A.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who advocates for Israel to be "wiped off the map," [2] encouraged Hamas to continue attacks against Israel. "The [Palestinian] government should use its brave and pious forces to continue resistance against the Zionist regime [Israel]," said Ahmadinejad, according to Iranian state-run television. [3]”

On this the 40^th anniversary of the start of the Six Day War, The NY Times notes:

“In Gaza, fighting between the rival Palestinian factions, Hamas and Fatah, flared up again, two weeks after the sides had declared a cease-fire.” As well as the fact that “Israeli peace advocates protested against four decades of occupation in Hebron, a tense and conservative Palestinian city with a biblical past, and tried to drown out a small counterdemonstration of local Jewish settlers with their chants.”

On this 40^th anniversary, let’s not forget what truly happened by ignoring historical rewrites from fanatics in the region, namely Hamas, Fatah, apologists, and appeasers as well as others.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Offers Love

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said:

“the future of Iranian nation, in the light of the real nature of the late Imam's movement which includes Islam, people and innovations based on Islam, will be even brighter that than the past.”

So in other words; Islam, people and innovations based upon Islam is the way of the future. When it is an Islamic leader from the Islamic Republic of Iran one should envision these innovations to be new ways to wipe out or kill people; whether they be revolutionaries against the Islamic Republic or Israelis.

The Ayatollah added this little heartwarming story of the late Ayatollah Khomeini; referred to as “The Imam.”

‘”"The late Imam paid the price in this way with the public confidence and the Almighty God returned the price in double to him in such a way that the number of people who participated in the funeral of that great leader was much bigger than the number of those who welcomed him after his exile.”’

So, in other words the Ayatollah Khomeini was a martyr, granted he lived out his life to a ripe age; but this is the reward to a leader of his caliber. The little people should blow themselves up.

Also note that the Ayatollah noted that:

“while the Islamic Republic was the fruit of Shia teachings, the political system goes beyond any sectarian identity and that is why the Sunni Muslims of Palestine and the Shia Muslims of Lebanon have both pinned their hope on the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

So, Lebanon and Palestine are part of their territorial interests; that helps clarify things, doesn’t…

Fred Thompson on Iran, Israel and Arab Love Prior to Six Day War

“Too often, they garner sympathy and support from a gullible or anti-Semitic media in the international community.” – Fred Thompson

Every day is a new day in the region of Israel, Gaza and Palestine. Each day is a new slate consisting of a repeat of attacks by those that would destroy Israel. It’s always new news; if it were not the world might actually do something to protect and support Israel, rather than pity the innocent Palestinians shields that are forced into the middle of the action by the sad, pathetic scum that is Hamas and its ilk.

Why do we look upon the sides as equals? Why has the violence continued to this day? Prior to the Six Day War, which began June 5, 1967 comments or statements were made from many sides; what is most interesting is that the following statements from Arab leaders sound an awful lot like the very same things we hear today. Remove the dates and one wouldn’t know any better.

Egyptian President Nasser: Leading up to the breakout of war, the Egyptian president taunted and challenged Israel's security almost daily. Just after Nasser illegally coerced the United Nations security force to leave the Sinai on May 19, he said the following:

"As of today, there no longer exists an international emergency force to protect Israel. We shall exercise patience no more. We shall not complain any more to the UN about Israel. The sole method we shall apply against Israel is total war, which will result in the extermination of Zionist existence." [5]

"Our basic objective will be the destruction of Israel. The Arab people want to fight," Nasser said on May 27. The following day, he added: "We will not accept any...coexistence with Israel...Today the issue is not the establishment of peace between the Arab states and Israel....The war with Israel was in effect since 1948." [6]

Mohamed Heikel, Egyptian journalist and advisor to President Nasser: On May 26, in Egypt's government-sponsored newspaper, Al-Ahram, Heikel summed up the Egyptian position on closing the Tiran Straits, emphasizing its intention to incite a war with Israel.

Closing the Straits of Tiran "…put Israel in a situation where it had to react…for many reasons, chiefly the psychological, Israel cannot accept or remain indifferent to what has taken place…Israel has to reply now. It has to deal a blow…Then it will be our turn to deal a second blow, which we will deliver with the utmost possible effectiveness…Let Israel begin! Let our second blow then be ready! Let it be a knockout!" [7]

Iraqi President, Abdur Rahman Aref: "The existence of Israel is an error which must be rectified. This is our opportunity to wipe out the ignominy which has been with us since 1948. Our goal is clear-to wipe Israel off the map." (May 31, 1967) [8]
(On June 4, Iraq joined the military alliance with Egypt, Jordan, and Syria)

Syrian Defense Minister, Hafez Assad: "Our forces are now entirely ready not only to repulse the aggression, but to initiate the act of "liquidation" itself, and to explode the Zionist presence in Israel. The Syrian army, with its finger on the trigger, is united....I, as a military man, believe that the time has come to enter into a battle of annihilation." (May 20, 1967) [9]

Syrian President, Nureddin al-Attasi: On February 22 1967, the Syrian president urged his countrymen to rally support to attack Israel. "…It is the duty of us now to move from defensive positions to offensive positions and enter the battle to liberate the usurped land…Everyone must face the test and enter the battle to the end." [10]

In a May 22, 1966 speech to Syrian troops, Al-Attasi announced "We want a full scale, popular war of liberation… to destroy the Zionist enemy." [11]

Palestinian Authority Chairman, Ahmed Shukairy:
"Those [Jews] who survive will remain in Palestine. I estimate that none of them will survive." (June 1, 1967) [12]

Fred Thompson had some choice words for the situation in the region on Wednesday May 30^th; not much else makes as much sense:

“Let me ask you a hypothetical question. What do you think America would do if Canadian soldiers were firing dozens of missiles every day into Buffalo, N.Y.? What do you think our response would be if Mexican troops for two years had launched daily rocket attacks on San Diego — and bragged about it?”

“I can tell you, our response would look nothing like Israel’s restrained and pinpoint reactions to daily missile attacks from Gaza. We would use whatever means necessary to win the war. There would likely be numerous casualties on our enemy’s side, but we would rightfully hold those who attacked us responsible.”

“More than 1,300 rockets have been fired into Israel from Gaza since Palestinians were given control two years ago. Israelis, however, have gone to incredible lengths to stop the war against them without harming Palestinian non-combatants. But make no mistake, Israel is at war. The elected Hamas government regularly repeats its official promise to destroy Israel entirely and replace it with an Islamic state. Hamas openly took credit for killing one woman and wounding dozens more last week alone.”

“The Palestinian strategy is to purposely target and kill Israeli civilians. Then, when Israel goes after those launching the attacks, Palestinians claim to be the victims. If Palestinian civilians aren’t hurt in the Israeli attacks, they stage injuries and deaths.”
